The Bugatti Divo is a limited-run, corner-focused hyper sports car based on the Chiron. Bugatti unveiled it in 2018, planned production from 2019, began customer deliveries in 2020 and delivered the final example in 2021. Its 1,500 PS W16 and 380 km/h (236 mph) limited maximum speed are striking, but the Divo’s defining change was its emphasis on agility and cornering rather than a higher top speed.
What is a 2019 Bugatti Divo?
“2019” refers to the Divo’s planned production start, not its unveiling or first customer deliveries. Bugatti presented the car on August 24, 2018, at The Quail in Monterey, California. Production was scheduled to begin in 2019 alongside the Chiron at the company’s Molsheim headquarters in Alsace. The first customer cars were being delivered by August 2020, and Bugatti announced delivery of the 40th and final car on July 22, 2021. Bugatti developed the Divo as a different-character counterpart to the Chiron: a car that retained the marque’s luxury and comfort positioning while putting greater emphasis on lateral acceleration, agility and cornering. Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann put the intent simply at the 2018 launch: “The Divo is made for corners.”

The figures describe a deliberate trade-off, not an across-the-board claim that the Divo is superior to the Chiron. Bugatti emphasized cornering performance and set the Divo’s maximum speed at 380 km/h, below the standard Chiron’s headline top-speed capability. The reduced limit reflects the car’s different purpose: its additional downforce and handling focus were intended to help it through corners, rather than maximize straight-line speed. Bugatti’s comparison does not establish how the cars would perform in every independent test or driving condition.
How is the Divo different from a Chiron?
The Divo shares its underlying relationship with the Chiron but changes the balance toward handling. Bugatti described it as a modern return to coachbuilding: a distinct design built around an existing chassis, with a different character while keeping recognizable Bugatti identity.

The shared platform and contrasting purpose explain why the Divo is not simply a faster Chiron. Its published maximum speed is limited, while Bugatti’s claimed gains concern weight, downforce and its time on a handling circuit.
How many Bugatti Divos were made, and why is it rare?
Bugatti planned a series of 40 Divos and said all 40 had sold out when presentations to selected customers began around the August 2018 premiere. The company later announced delivery of the final car in July 2021, confirming completion of the run. That fixed production total and completed run make the Divo scarce by design; they do not establish a current resale price or the availability of any particular car.

What did the Bugatti Divo cost?
Bugatti gave the Divo a net unit price of €5 million at its 2018 launch. That is the original announced price, not a current asking price or an estimate of what an individual Divo may sell for today. Current resale values depend on the particular car and market, and the launch figure alone cannot establish them.
Who was Albert Divo?
The car takes its name from Albert Divo, a French racing driver and former Bugatti works driver. Bugatti credited him with two victories in the Targa Florio for the marque. The name connects the modern car’s focus on handling with a racer from Bugatti’s history, while the company’s coachbuilding framing explains why the Divo has a distinct identity within the Chiron family.

Can you buy a Bugatti Divo model car?
A scale model is a collectible miniature, not the full-size hypercar. The Bugatti Store’s collection lists a 1:18 grey diecast Divo model, approximately 27 cm long, and a 1:24 Divo remote-control model. The 1:18 listing was marked out of stock when checked, so availability should be confirmed with the seller. A separate retailer also lists a licensed Bburago 1:18 Divo diecast model. Retail stock can change, and these listings do not establish current full-size Divo availability.
