The 2018 Honda CRF450R is a U.S.-market, closed-course motocross bike with a 449.7 cc fuel-injected engine, five-speed transmission and standard electric starting. These are Honda’s published specifications for the U.S. 2018 model, not independent test measurements or specifications for later model years. Honda defines curb weight as including standard equipment, required fluids and a full fuel tank. Honda’s 2018 specifications list:

Honda’s 2018 specifications page identifies the tires as Dunlop Geomax AT81. A separate Honda feature release names Geomax MX3S, so the tire model should be verified against the bike and market rather than treated as settled from the feature list alone. Specifications · 2018 feature release
What changed for the 2018 model year?
Honda announced the 2018 model on May 9, 2017. Its defining update was standard electric starting, powered by a lightweight lithium-ion battery; Honda removed the kick-start lever. The company also specified revised suspension settings and an updated ECU setting intended to provide more usable power delivery. These are manufacturer-described changes, not independent performance test findings. Honda’s announcement also lists a sixth-generation twin-spar aluminum frame, titanium fuel tank and engine-mode select button.

Which manual should you use?
For operation, service intervals and procedures, use the factory manual for the exact model year. Helm lists the English-language paper owner’s manual for the 2018 CRF450R as item 31MKE610. Its description says it covers safety, maintenance schedules, routine oil changes, storage, appearance care and basic troubleshooting. Helm’s manual listing provides current availability and price; those details can change.
Routine maintenance and replacement parts
Oil filter
The 2018 manual’s oil-filter replacement guidance gives an interval of every six motos or about 15.0 hours. It calls for a Honda Genuine filter or an equal-quality filter specified for this model, and warns that the wrong filter can leak or damage the engine; incorrect installation can cause serious engine damage. Air cleaner
A dirty, damaged or poorly sealed air cleaner can let contaminants enter the engine. The 2018 manual reproduction calls for a Honda Genuine air cleaner specified for the model or an equivalent-quality item. Honda’s parts catalog identifies the 2018 CRF450R air-cleaner element as 17213-MKE-A00. CRF450R versus CRF450RX
The CRF450R is a motocross model; do not use CRF450RX specifications as if they described the R. Honda’s European announcement distinguishes the RX as an off-road variant with a larger tank, 18-inch rear wheel, enduro-oriented suspension and sidestand.
