Gasoline-engine output ranged from 300 hp in the base Cayenne to 570 hp in the Turbo S. These are the preceding-generation Cayennes: Porsche unveiled the next generation in calendar 2017, but that was not the US 2017 model-year lineup.
2017 Cayenne trims and engine specifications
The table summarizes the US-market trim family and the reported gasoline outputs. The figures for the base, S and Turbo come from 2017 US-market references; Porsche’s detailed GTS and Turbo S technical sheet is for 2016 configurations, so those figures are useful technical references rather than a complete official 2017 US specification table.

Car and Driver reports an eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive for the gasoline trims. Porsche’s technical data also specifies an eight-speed transmission and active all-wheel drive for the documented GTS and Turbo S configurations. How the Cayenne S and GTS differ
Both use a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6, but the cited figures place the GTS at 440 hp versus 420 hp for the S. Porsche’s 2016 GTS sheet lists 442 lb-ft of torque; the cited 2017 US-market overview does not provide a corresponding S torque figure. The GTS is therefore the higher-output version in these references, but the available figures do not establish every equipment or performance difference between 2017 S and GTS builds.

What Platinum Edition means
Platinum Edition was an equipment edition of selected Cayenne models, not a single engine or powertrain. The US trim overview lists Platinum Edition versions for the base Cayenne, S E-Hybrid and S, so identify the underlying model before comparing powertrains. CARFAX’s 2017 overview.
Porsche’s February 2017 announcement for its Platinum Edition models described equipment including 21-inch satin Platinum Sport Edition wheels, eight-way leather sport seats with Alcantara seat centers, PDLS bi-xenon headlights, Power Steering Plus, front and rear Park Assist, PCM with online navigation, Connect Plus, BOSE surround sound, heated front seats and a dashboard analogue clock. These are features from Porsche’s market-specific announcement, not a guarantee that every country’s edition or every individual vehicle has the same equipment. Was there a US 2017 Cayenne diesel?
Do not treat Porsche’s European S Diesel Platinum Edition announcement as evidence of a US-market 2017 diesel trim. Porsche’s release gives that diesel edition an output of 385 hp, but Car and Driver reports that diesel was dropped from the US range for 2017. Dimensions, wheels and tire fitment
Porsche’s 2016 technical sheet lists a length of 191.1 inches and a wheelbase of 114.0 inches for both its documented GTS and Turbo S configurations. It lists GTS tire sizes of 275/45 R20 at the front and 295/35 R21 at the rear. Those staggered sizes are specific to the documented GTS setup, not universal fitment for every 2017 Cayenne. Model-year clarification
Porsche unveiled the third-generation Cayenne in 2017, but a calendar-year unveiling does not make it the US-market 2017 model-year vehicle. The 2017 US trim references in this guide concern the preceding generation; do not use the successor’s launch specifications to identify a 2017-model-year Cayenne.
