Romain Dumas won the 95th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 25, 2017, driving a Norma MXX RD Limited to an official overall time of 9:05.672. Peter Cunningham finished second overall in an Acura TLX GT, and Clint Vahsholtz was third in an open-wheel Ford. Motorcycle winner Chris Fillmore crossed the line fifth overall.
How the 2017 Pikes Peak race was decided
The official results place Dumas first overall in the Unlimited division, 28.125 seconds ahead of Cunningham. Cunningham’s 9:33.797 put the Acura second in the combined field and first in Pikes Peak Open. Vahsholtz followed in third overall with 9:35.747, winning Open Wheel.
Acura described Cunningham’s result as a new Pikes Peak Open Class record and said he received Rookie of the Year honors. Those distinctions are separate from his overall placing: he was second in the full-field ranking and the Pikes Peak Open winner.
Fillmore led the heavyweight motorcycles
Chris Fillmore won Pikes Peak Heavyweight Motorcycle on a 2017 KTM Super Duke 1290 R in 9:49.625. That was fifth overall across the combined results, as well as first in his motorcycle division. The official 2017 race-record sheet also lists 9:49.625 as the division’s record.

Rennie Scaysbrook finished second in the heavyweight motorcycle division, seventh overall, in 9:57.712. In a contemporary Cycle News account, Scaysbrook said: “To finish second is not what I signed up for, but I cannot begrudge such an incredible performance from a guy I respect so much.”
The course behind the times
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb describes its course as 12.42 miles long, with 156 turns. It climbs from a 9,390-foot starting elevation to the 14,115-foot summit. The organizer’s history page notes that changing weather is a recurring challenge at the event; that general context does not establish any particular weather conditions on race day in 2017.

2017 Pikes Peak overall results
The table separates each driver or rider’s overall position from the division or class result. These are summit-finish entries in the official overall results.

The official table prints “(R)” next to some competitors; its meaning is not assigned here. It also lists DNFs, DNS entries, and shortened-course finishers separately. Entries marked “SH” finished a shortened course, so those times should not be compared with summit-finish times as though they covered the same distance.
