The Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo is a virtual racing concept developed with the Gran Turismo team—not a production road car. Bugatti also built a full-scale show car, displayed at the Frankfurt IAA in September 2015. The often-quoted 447.59 km/h (278 mph) top speed belongs to the game’s virtual Le Mans circuit calculations, not a verified real-world test.
What is the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo?
Bugatti created the Vision Gran Turismo for the Gran Turismo project as a race-car concept that brought the marque’s identity into the game. The virtual design paired Bugatti styling with racing technology and aerodynamic analysis. Bugatti then presented a full-scale show car at the Frankfurt IAA from 17 to 27 September 2015.
These are related but distinct things: the virtual concept has the published simulated performance figures, while the physical car was a show car. The available official sources do not establish a production road-car version.
How fast is it, and what are its specifications?
Gran Turismo’s official vehicle profile lists a W16 engine, power to all four wheels, 1,230 kW (1,650 bhp) and 1,580 Nm (161.1 mkgf). It says engineers calculated that the virtual car could exceed 400 km/h on four sections of the Le Mans circuit and gives a maximum of 447.59 km/h (278 mph) on that virtual track. Gran Turismo’s Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo profile does not present these as independently measured results from the full-scale show car.

Read the headline speed as a game/concept figure, not as a tested top speed for a road-legal Bugatti. The profile does not establish road legality or a production run.
How did Bugatti connect the design to its racing history?
The concept draws particularly on the Type 57 Tank and Bugatti’s Le Mans record. The Type 57 Tank won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1937 and 1939, and the two-tone blue livery on the Frankfurt show car referenced the Type 57 G Tank and French racing colors of that era. - A central fin, inspired by the Type 57 SC Atlantic, contributes to stability.
- The fin houses the rear-wing mechanism, including air-brake and drag-reduction functions.
Bugatti design-team head Achim Anscheidt said the goal was a vehicle that could be driven on a real race circuit if it left the virtual world, describing the project as one of authenticity. That statement records design intent; it is not evidence that the show car completed a track test. The remarks appeared in Gran Turismo’s teaser announcement.
Is there a physical Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo?
Yes: Bugatti displayed a full-scale show car at the Frankfurt IAA in September 2015. That makes the project more than a purely digital design, but it does not turn the virtual performance figures into physical test results. Gran Turismo’s 2015 Frankfurt announcement gave the display dates as 17–27 September.

Can you buy a model of the Vision Gran Turismo?
LEGO offers a buildable interpretation, not Bugatti’s Frankfurt show car: Speed Champions Bugatti Vision GT Hyper Sports Car set 77253. LEGO lists it as a 2026 set with 284 pieces and says its details are based on the car created for Gran Turismo in 2015. See LEGO’s US product page and LEGO’s building-instructions listing.
