The 2016 BMW M6 Coupe Competition Edition is a limited-run F13 M6 Coupe, not a separate body style. BMW paired the Coupe with its Competition Package and edition-specific paint, carbon-fiber trim and other equipment. BMW’s 2015 announcements give two different production figures by scope: 100 cars for the US market and 120 worldwide.
What is the 2016 M6 Coupe Competition Edition?
BMW announced the edition on September 15, 2015, for the 2016 model year. It combines the F13-generation M6 Coupe and BMW’s Competition Package with distinctive exterior and interior details. BMW described the edition as exclusive to the M6 Coupe; it is not a separate body style. BMW’s US announcement and the global announcement are dated September 2015.

How many 2016 M6 Competition Editions were made?
BMW published different figures for different geographies: the US release says 100 units in the United States, while the global release says 120 units worldwide. These are not competing counts of the same market; the US figure is a subset of the worldwide figure. For a particular car, verify its identity and equipment with its VIN and build documentation rather than relying on an advertisement’s description.

Paint, trim and equipment
BMW listed two exterior finishes: Alpine White and Austin Yellow metallic. The Alpine White version has BMW M-color stripes. Both are described with 20-inch double-spoke wheels, black-chrome grille, door handles and side gills, carbon-fiber mirror caps, an M Performance exhaust with carbon-fiber tailpipes, and a carbon-fiber rear spoiler and diffuser.
The cabin is specified with black Merino full leather and coordinated contrast stitching: Opal White stitching with Alpine White paint, or yellow stitching with Austin Yellow. Other listed details include carbon-fiber trim, a carbon-fiber gear selector and steering-wheel spokes, an Alcantara steering-wheel rim, and M6 Competition lettering. BMW also lists multifunction front seats and a head-up display. The US release describes Harman Kardon surround sound or a Bang & Olufsen high-end audio system with 16 speakers and 1,200 watts.
What tires fit a 2016 BMW M6 Competition Edition?
BMW’s US specification lists a staggered 20-inch setup:
Rank #2
- Genuine BMW M Performance product
- Set includes four wheel totes and one zippered storage bag
- Heavy-duty nylon construction, soft inner liner for wheel protection
- Stores wheel diameters 17-22”, (Estimated 325 max width)
- Front: 265/35ZR 20 (99 Y) XL
- Rear: 295/30ZR 20 (101 Y) XL
These sizes are a useful starting point when searching for replacements, not a guarantee of fit for every surviving car. Confirm the tire placard and the car’s actual wheel configuration, then match the required load index and speed rating. BMW’s release does not establish current availability, pricing or a suitable tire brand.

BMW announced a US launch price of $164,900 plus destination and handling. The global announcement gave a European Competition Edition option price starting at €17,700 and described additional required options in the European configuration. Both figures are historical launch information from 2015, not current used-car values; the US and European amounts describe different market configurations.
How to check an advertised example
Because an edition’s appearance can be affected by later replacement parts or modifications, compare the seller’s claims with vehicle-specific records. Useful checks include:
Quick Recap
- Confirm the market and the claimed production context; BMW’s published counts are 100 for the US and 120 worldwide.
- Request VIN and build-sheet documentation supporting the Competition Edition equipment.
- Compare the paint and stitching combination with BMW’s listed Alpine White/Opal White and Austin Yellow/yellow pairings.
- Inspect the carbon-fiber exterior and interior pieces, wheels and tire setup, noting that parts may have been changed.
- Review the individual car’s mechanical condition and maintenance records. The cited launch announcements do not establish a reliability rating or a maintenance history for any specific vehicle.
