How many trims does the 2015 BMW i8 Coupe have?
Model-year references show one US Coupe configuration: Car and Driver lists the “i8 2dr Cpe,” while Kelley Blue Book lists the “i8 Coupe 2D.” That does not mean every car has identical options, and the Coupe and Roadster are different body styles rather than trims of the same car.
BMW’s launch-era materials describe equipment “worlds” called Mega, Giga and Tera, with Pure Impulse presented as a premium equipment combination. Those labels do not establish separate 2015 US mechanical trims: the available BMW material is not a 2015 US order guide. For a specific used car, use its VIN-specific BMW build record or original window sticker to verify installed equipment.

Is the 2015 BMW i8 fully electric?
No. The i8 is a plug-in hybrid sports car: it combines a gasoline engine with an electric motor and rechargeable battery. BMW describes the engine driving the rear wheels and the motor driving the front axle, creating all-wheel drive. BMW also says the hybrid can be driven without an electric charge because it has a gasoline engine.

BMW’s 2013 US launch announcement gives 357 hp as combined system output. It also reports 228 hp for the gasoline engine and 129 hp for the motor in one specification block, while prose in the same release gives 231 hp and 131 hp after metric-to-imperial conversion. Use the stated combined figure rather than adding the inconsistent component figures together.
Performance, range and fuel-economy context
Car and Driver’s 2015 listing gives a 4.2-second 0–60 mph time and an estimated 28 mpg combined. BMW’s launch release gives up to 22 miles of electric-only range and reports 94 mpg (US) as an EU plug-in-hybrid test-cycle equivalent. That 94 mpg figure is not a directly comparable US EPA combined rating. The launch-era electric-range claim also should not be treated as a promise for a used i8; battery age and condition matter.

What was the 2015 BMW i8 MSRP?
Car and Driver lists a $137,495 MSRP for its 2015 model-year listing. For context, BMW Group’s 2013 US launch announcement said the i8 would arrive for 2014 starting at $135,700, plus destination and handling. These are different year and price references; neither is a current used-car valuation.
Equipment and dimensions: what to verify
BMW’s launch-era material describes features including Navigation Professional, digital instruments, iDrive, leather sport seats and driver-assistance and ConnectedDrive features as standard or available. It does not establish the exact equipment or package matrix for every 2015 US Coupe. Confirm features against the individual car’s VIN-specific build information or window sticker rather than inferring them from an equipment-world name.

BMW’s launch-era technical data gives dimensions of 184.6 inches long, 76.5 inches wide and 51 inches high, with a 110.2-inch wheelbase. Car and Driver’s 2015 listing instead gives 184.9 inches in length and 50.8 inches in height. Published measurements can differ by source or convention, so compare like-for-like references when checking a particular vehicle.

No. BMW USA says the i8 Coupe and Roadster are no longer in production. Because model-year and body-style specifications can differ, compare a 2015 Coupe with another i8 using that car’s year-specific powertrain, body style, equipment record and price basis—not figures from a later model.
