Ford rates them at 662 hp and 631 lb-ft for 2014, versus 760 hp and 625 lb-ft for 2022. Those are manufacturer ratings on 93-octane fuel, not results from a matched test.

The 2014 figures come from Ford’s 2014 GT500 supplement. The 2022 engine and transmission details are listed in Ford’s 2022 GT500 brochure, while its body configuration is identified in Ford’s 2022 Mustang technical specifications. The brochure is hosted on a dealer-enrollment storage domain; Ford is identified as the brochure source.
How much horsepower does a 2014 Shelby GT500 have?
Ford rates the 2014 GT500 at 662 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 631 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm when running 93-octane fuel. Its 5.8-liter supercharged V8 is larger in displacement than the 2022 car’s engine, but displacement alone does not determine the power ranking: the 2022 has the higher factory horsepower rating.
How much power does the 2022 GT500 make?
The 2022 GT500 is rated at 760 hp at 7,300 rpm on 93-octane fuel, with 625 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm. Its 5.2-liter supercharged DOHC V8 is smaller than the 2014’s 5.8-liter engine. Ford’s brochure gives the year-specific output figures; a 2019 Ford announcement provides launch-era context for the 5.2-liter engine and dual-clutch direction, but is not the source for these 2022 ratings.

Is the 2022 GT500 a manual?
No. The 2022 GT500 specification lists a seven-speed TREMEC dual-clutch transmission. The 2014 GT500 uses a TREMEC TR6060 six-speed manual, making transmission type a central difference between these model years. A dual-clutch transmission shifts through clutches rather than a driver-operated manual clutch pedal; buyers seeking a factory three-pedal GT500 in this comparison should look at the 2014.
What the torque figures do—and do not—show
The 2014 is rated six lb-ft higher at its peak: 631 lb-ft versus 625 lb-ft for the 2022. Ford lists those peaks at different engine speeds—4,000 rpm for 2014 and 5,000 rpm for 2022—so the figures do not describe identical points in the rev range or establish how either car behaves across the full powerband.

Which GT500 should you choose?
There is no specification-only overall winner. The 2014 is the fit for a buyer prioritizing a factory manual gearbox or the availability of a convertible configuration. The 2022 is the fit for someone who wants the higher factory horsepower rating and a dual-clutch transmission. Both are supercharged V8 GT500s, but the choice depends on the body style and driving experience desired, not just the peak number.
These factory specifications do not establish which car is quicker in a drag race, faster around a road course, has a higher top speed, or brakes better. Those comparisons require matched independent testing. When considering a specific used car, verify its actual body style and equipment rather than assuming every 2014 listing shares the same configuration.
