Oil filter: choose for the model, not appearance
The manual describes a replaceable oil-filter cartridge and specifies 12 N·m installation torque. It calls for a genuine KYMCO cartridge or an equivalent-quality cartridge specified for the model, warning that an unsuitable filter may damage the engine. The available sources do not establish one exact filter part number for every 2014 market variant, so verify by VIN/model code or a local KYMCO parts catalogue before ordering. Cold tire pressures in the manual
The KYMCO manual gives these cold pressures for the 500 i/Ri family. Confirm them against the manual or pressure label for your exact scooter and market before riding; set pressures when the tires are cold.

The manual also advises using recommended tires. How the ABS works—and its limits
The manual describes ABS as a system that modulates braking to help prevent wheel lock during hard braking while the scooter is travelling straight. It is not a guarantee against a crash or shorter stopping distances in every condition, and it cannot compensate for poor grip or unsuitable tires.
- The manual says ABS does not operate at approximately 10 km/h (6 mph) or below.
- A pulsing brake lever can occur while ABS is operating.
- The system depends on functioning battery power; the manual identifies battery power faults as a possible cause of an ABS warning.

Service intervals and what to verify
A catalogue-hosted excerpt for the Xciting 500 MMC Ri ABS schedule shows engine-oil replacement at each listed service interval, oil-filter replacement at alternating listed intervals, and brake-fluid replacement at 24 and 48 months. That excerpt is for a named MMC ABS configuration and is hosted by a secondary catalogue, so it should not be treated as the universal schedule for all 2014 markets. - Identify the scooter: record the VIN and model code, then establish the market and exact variant.
- Check the authoritative specification: consult the manual supplied for that scooter; use the 500 i/Ri family manual only where its coverage matches your configuration.
- Match the actual specification: for oil, check SAE 5W-50 and API SJ; for tires, verify the manual’s size and suitability requirements; for a filter, confirm the catalogue application and equivalent-quality specification.
