The 2013 Harley-Davidson Sportster SuperLow XL883L is identified as model code CR in Harley-Davidson’s 2013 Sportster parts catalog. For this specific model, the owner’s manual lists a 120/70ZR18 front tire at 36 psi cold and a 150/60ZR17 rear at 42 psi cold. Use the manual and the motorcycle’s full 17-digit VIN to verify fitment, service needs, and parts before acting—especially if the bike has been modified or was built for a non-U.S. market.

How to identify the 2013 XL883L SuperLow

Harley-Davidson’s 2013 Sportster parts catalog identifies the XL 883L SuperLow with model code CR. The catalog advises: “Always give the full 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) when ordering parts or making any inquiry about your motorcycle.” Provide that VIN to a Harley-Davidson dealer or parts supplier so they can check the motorcycle’s specific configuration.

Model year and model name alone do not establish whether a particular bike still has its original wheels, tires, or other equipment. Modifications, market configuration, and production details can affect fitment. Treat published specifications as a reference, then confirm the actual motorcycle and its VIN.

What tire sizes and pressures does the manual specify?

The 2013 Sportster owner’s manual gives these SuperLow tire specifications:

Position Specified tire Cold pressure
Front Michelin Scorcher 11F, 120/70ZR18 M/C 59W 36 psi (248 kPa)
Rear Michelin Scorcher 11, 150/60ZR17 M/C 66W 42 psi (290 kPa)

These are the manual’s cold-pressure figures at its stated reference temperature. Check pressure when the tires are cold, and consult the 2013 owner’s manual for the complete instructions and any relevant conditions. If a wheel or tire setup has changed, do not assume the stock figures or dimensions automatically apply; confirm approved fitment for the motorcycle as it is equipped.

When comparing replacement tires, check the complete size designation, load and speed ratings, construction, and manufacturer-approved fitment—not just brand or price. The specified stock sizes are a starting point, not proof that a particular tire listing fits a modified motorcycle.

What are the SuperLow’s published dimensions and capacities?

Harley-Davidson’s SuperLow Model Specifications sheet lists the following figures. The sheet is not explicitly marked as a 2013 model-year document, so these values should not be treated as verified year-specific differences; check the motorcycle’s market-specific documentation where exact configuration matters.

Specification Published figure
Length 87.6 in
Width 33.3 in
Height 46.1 in
Seat height 27.8 in unladen; 25.5 in laden
Ground clearance 3.9 in
Wheelbase 59.1 in
Fuel capacity 4.5 gal
Oil capacity with filter 2.8 qt
Transmission capacity 1 qt
Running-order weight 569 lb

The specification sheet identifies a five-speed transmission for Sportster models. Capacities and dimensions are useful reference points, but use the owner’s manual for operating, checking, and service procedures rather than relying on a general specification sheet alone.

Dunlop D404 Rear Motorcycle Tire 170/80-15 (77H) Black Wall
  • Expanded size range fits a wide variety of older bikes and cruisers. Tread compound delivers excellent balance of mileage and grip.

What is the maintenance schedule?

The SuperLow specification sheet summarizes the service cadence as a first service at 1,000 miles, then every 5,000 miles, with selected system and component inspections every 2,500 miles. This is an interval summary, not a complete checklist. Follow the 2013 owner’s manual for the actual maintenance items, conditions, and instructions.

For dealer service, Harley-Davidson lists tire replacement, brake system flush, brake pad replacement, and engine oil and filter changes among participating Express Lane services. Its service page also links to manuals, maintenance schedules, parts, and recall information. Harley-Davidson says authorized service dealers have access to real-time engineering technical updates and proprietary tools; that is manufacturer information, not a requirement to use a dealer for every repair. Choose a provider based on the job, the correct model-year documentation and tools, and the ability to confirm parts fitment by VIN.

How should you verify parts and recalls?

Use the full VIN when ordering parts or asking about the motorcycle. The parts catalog says to order by the correct part number and to include the VIN with an order or inquiry. This is particularly important if the bike has uncertain production specifications, was made for a market outside the United States, or has been modified.

A retailer fitment page lists these items as references for the XL883L: air filter 29331-04, oil filter 63796-77, front brake pads 42831-04, rear brake pads 42029-07, battery 65958-04, and spark plug 32362-04. The retailer advises checking the owner’s manual to confirm fitment. Treat those numbers as leads rather than final purchasing authority; confirm the part against the VIN and the correct Harley-Davidson catalog.

Do not infer whether a recall is open or completed from the model year alone. Use Harley-Davidson’s service page to reach recall information, then check the specific motorcycle by VIN and confirm completion with Harley-Davidson or an authorized dealer. Recall status depends on the individual motorcycle; the cited model references do not establish the status of any particular VIN.
