Tire size and replacement checks
BMW’s published tire dimensions are 120/70 R15 front and 160/60 R15 rear. Use them as a starting point when searching for replacements, not as a complete purchasing specification: verify the required load and speed ratings and fitment for the specific scooter before ordering. The sources here do not establish an approved list of aftermarket tire models. A qualified tire retailer or BMW Motorrad dealer can confirm suitability and regional recommendations.

Features and practical storage
BMW describes the C 600 Sport as the sportier, more active-riding member of its maxi-scooter pairing. It has a manually adjusted windscreen, multifunction instrument cluster, and a side stand that activates the hold brake. BMW’s launch announcement called out a “Powerful braking system with BMW Motorrad ABS fitted as standard.”
How the FlexCase works
The under-seat FlexCase expands to accommodate two helmets while the scooter is stationary. It is not extra riding storage: the expanded case must not be treated as usable while riding. Consider this distinction if you need to carry helmets on the road.
BMW’s launch description of the C 600 Sport and C 650 GT outlines their equipment and positioning: BMW C 600 Sport and C 650 GT – market launch in July 2012.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.C 600 Sport vs. C 650 GT
The main distinction in BMW’s description is use and equipment: the C 600 Sport is oriented toward a sportier riding position, while the C 650 GT is presented for more touring-oriented comfort. The GT has a powered windscreen and a larger rear storage compartment; the Sport’s screen is manually adjusted and its FlexCase offers helmet capacity only when parked.
| Comparison | C 600 Sport | C 650 GT |
|---|---|---|
| Riding character | Sportier, more active position | Touring-oriented positioning |
| Windscreen | Manual adjustment | Powered screen |
| Storage distinction | FlexCase can accommodate two helmets when parked | Larger rear storage compartment; exact capacity not stated in the cited launch material |
Choose between them by prioritizing riding posture, windscreen adjustment, and how you plan to use storage, rather than assuming the Sport’s parked FlexCase capacity is available while moving.
Recall: check the VIN, not just the model year
Australia’s Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts lists recall REC-000148 for BMW C600 Sport and C650 GT model years 2013–2014. The record says the timing-chain tensioner may wear, leading to insufficient chain tension and possible chain slippage that could stall the engine. Its instruction is to contact an authorized BMW motor vehicle service centre.
This Australian record does not establish that every 2013 scooter is affected, whether a particular VIN is included, or whether its repair has been completed. Ask BMW in the country where the scooter is registered to check the VIN and confirm recall completion; you can also consult the applicable national recall authority. The Australian record is available at recall REC-000148. For U.S. vehicles, check the VIN with NHTSA or BMW Motorrad directly rather than relying on an unverified model-wide claim.
Manuals, accessories and service
Use the rider’s manual edition that matches the scooter’s market and model. BMW’s manual advises: “Use only parts and accessories approved by BMW for your Scooter.” It also cautions that BMW cannot test every accessory from outside sources for safety, and that extended use of electrical accessories with the engine off can drain the battery. Consult BMW’s official rider’s manual resource and confirm the correct edition with a BMW Motorrad dealer.
