The 2012 Kawasaki Z1000SX Tourer is a liter-class sport-tourer powered by a 1,043 cm³ liquid-cooled inline-four. Kawasaki’s Czech archive lists 138 PS, 110 N·m of torque, a 19 L fuel tank and an 822 mm seat height. Its Tourer identity adds luggage and touring equipment, but pannier capacity is not consistent across the available sources, so buyers should verify the cases fitted to the individual motorcycle.

The figures below are from Kawasaki’s Czech archive for the 2012 Z1000SX Tourer. The archive states curb mass separately for models with and without ABS.

What the Tourer equipment includes
Kawasaki Motors Europe’s 2015 Sport Tourer brochure describes a Z1000SX Tourer package with colour-matched hard panniers, pannier interior bags and a gel tankpad. It lists pannier capacity as 2 × 28 L and says each case can hold a full-face helmet. The brochure also says the panniers use the same key as the fuel cap and ignition.

This is a 2015 brochure, not proof that every 2012 Tourer sold in every market had the same luggage or specification. Treat it as documented package context, then inspect the motorcycle and its accessories. The same brochure lists 39 L and 47 L top cases and an optional backrest pad; these are accessory options, not evidence that a top case was part of every Tourer package.

Z1000SX Tourer pannier capacity: why sources differ
The luggage figures conflict. Kawasaki’s 2015 brochure specifies two 28 L panniers, while Bikez’s independent page for the 2012 Z1000 SX Tourer describes 2 × 35 L panniers and says panniers cannot be used with the top case. These sources do not establish that one capacity applies to all 2012-market Tourers; the difference may reflect year, market or luggage system.
Before buying replacement cases or planning a luggage setup, check the motorcycle’s market and model code, the part numbers on the cases, and the installed mounting hardware. Confirm top-case and pannier compatibility for that exact arrangement rather than assuming that cases from another Z1000SX will fit or work together.

Kawasaki’s U.S. Owner Center lists 2012 Ninja 1000 owner and service manuals. The target motorcycle is identified as Z1000SX Tourer in Kawasaki’s European archive, so confirm the region and model code before relying on a manual listed under the U.S. Ninja 1000 name.

A reproduction of the 2012 owner’s manual gives a maximum combined load of 195 kg (430 lb) for rider, passenger, baggage and accessories. The manual advises placing baggage securely, evenly and low, and warns that accessories can affect handling, stability, clearance and operation. Consult the correct manual for the motorcycle’s market and configuration before loading it.
