The 2010 Lotus Elise SC RGB and Exige S RGB were related but distinct special editions honoring Roger Becker, Lotus’s longtime vehicle-engineering director. Lotus service history records their September 2010 introduction, shared equipment and identifying details; a contemporary report gives separate power figures for the two models. The available sources do not establish how many were built.
Why Lotus made the RGB editions
Lotus service history identifies the Elise SC RGB and Exige S RGB as tributes to Roger Becker, who retired in January 2010 after 44 years with the company. The editions were recorded in September 2010. A contemporary Quattroruote report dated 21 June 2010 also describes them as a tribute and presents them as the final special editions with the familiar 1.8-litre engine before the next model-year transition.
Becker was quoted by Quattroruote as saying: “Sono onorato che Lotus abbia dedicato a me due edizioni speciali, la Elise SC RGB da 217 CV e la Exige S RGB da 257 CV, anche perché hanno tutte le mie specifiche preferite”. In English: “I am honoured that Lotus has dedicated to me two special editions, the Elise SC RGB with 217 CV and the Exige S RGB with 257 CV, also because they have all my favourite specifications.” The English is a translation of the Italian statement.
How the Elise SC RGB and Exige S RGB differ
These are editions of two different Lotus models, not two names for the same car. Quattroruote reported the following outputs in its 2010 coverage:

#1 Best Overall
| Edition | Base model | Reported output | Edition-specific detail in Lotus service history |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elise SC RGB | Elise SC | 217 CV, as reported by Quattroruote in 2010 | No rear subframe shear panel noted as an Elise-only or shared item |
| Exige S RGB | Exige S | 257 CV, as reported by Quattroruote in 2010 | Rear subframe shear panel noted for the Exige S only |
The power figures are attributed to the contemporary secondary report, not presented here as independently verified specifications for every market. Lotus’s service history lists a shared standard-equipment package for the editions, but the available records do not establish that every market received an identical specification.

It separately notes a rear subframe shear panel for the Exige S. Road & Track’s description for its 18 November 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show video calls the event the North American debut and says both editions were offered with Sports and Touring packages standard. That is evidence about the show and its North American context, not proof of uniform equipment worldwide.

How to identify an RGB edition
Lotus service history records three visual or interior identifiers:
- A numbered plaque inside the car
- Roger Becker signature decals on the body sides
- A special monochrome Lotus badge on the nose
These details can help distinguish an RGB edition from a standard Elise SC or Exige S. A numbered plaque establishes that an individual car carries an edition identifier; the available sources do not provide a production register or a method for verifying a particular car’s provenance.

How many were made?
The cited Lotus service-history document and contemporaneous reports establish the editions and their identifying features, but do not state a total production figure or counts by model, market or color. A precise number should therefore not be inferred from the editions’ limited-edition status or from the numbered plaque.

The strongest source for the model-history details is the Lotus Elise Service Notes, Introduction section, a technical service-history document hosted on RackCDN. Quattroruote’s 21 June 2010 article supplies the attributed statement and reported outputs; Road & Track’s 18 November 2010 video description is relevant to the Los Angeles show debut and North American package context. None of these sources establishes current values or availability.
