The dealer’s July 2025 vehicle document lists 161 km and gives the price as “on application”; its current availability and asking price should be confirmed directly with Schaltkulisse.
Is Schaltkulisse auctioning the SLR Stirling Moss?
No auction is identified in the available Schaltkulisse materials. The dealer’s July 2025 vehicle document says the car is available for sale at Schaltkulisse Munich and lists its price as “on application.” The dealer’s official film page also describes its black example as for sale exclusively at Schaltkulisse in Germany. These sources do not establish whether the car remains available now.
What is known about the black example?
The details below are reported by Schaltkulisse, rather than independently verified by an inspection report in the cited vehicle document.
- Year and delivery: 2009, European delivery.
- Mileage: 161 km, as stated in the dealer’s document.
- Ownership: One owner is recorded on the German Fahrzeugbrief, according to Schaltkulisse.
- Color and interior: Black exterior with a red-and-black leather interior inspired by the 300 SLR.
- Tires: The document reports original 2008 tires.
- Price: On application. Schaltkulisse says a net sale is possible for export.
Schaltkulisse calls the color combination exceptionally rare and says it believes three cars were finished in black with a red interior. That is the seller’s belief, not a verified production count.

What makes the SLR Stirling Moss different?
The SLR Stirling Moss is a roofless, windscreen-free speedster conceived as the final chapter of the SLR family and a modern tribute to the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR. In December 2008, Mercedes-Benz USA Public Relations said only existing SLR customers could acquire one and set production at 75 cars, built from June through December 2009. Its description captures the unusual open-air design: “There is neither a roof nor a windscreen to separate the driver and passenger from the outside world; they enjoy unadulterated high-speed excitement with all the attributes of a speedster.” The period information is reproduced at SLR Moss.
Published performance figures
Mercedes-Benz USA Public Relations published output of 650 hp (478 kW), acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds, and a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph). It also gave a launch price of €750,000. Those are manufacturer figures from 2008, not measurements of the Schaltkulisse car or current pricing.

- 1:64 scaled die-cast car.
- Silver finish.
- 29/125 in the 2016 Matchbox line.
Later RM Sotheby’s catalogues give different specifications: 641 hp, 3.5 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, and a top speed of 354 km/h. Keeping the figures tied to their respective sources is more accurate than treating them as one settled specification.
