What was the 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 MSRP?
Two current reference pages give different historical US starting-price figures for the 2009 4WD SRT-8: Cars.com lists $42,965, while Car and Driver lists $43,745. Both are original-model MSRP references, not current used-car values. The sources do not state why they differ, so neither figure can be treated as a resolved manufacturer-published price. Used-market prices vary with condition, mileage, location, and date.
How much horsepower does a 2009 Grand Cherokee SRT8 have?
Jeep’s 2008 brochure rates the 6.1L SRT HEMI V8 at 420 hp at 6,200 rpm and 420 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm. The engine is paired with a five-speed automatic and an active full-time, single-speed SRT NV146 four-wheel-drive system with variable torque split. These are the 2009 WK-generation SRT8 specifications; they should not be confused with later Grand Cherokee SRT models using a 6.4L engine.

What size tires does a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 use?
Car and Driver lists staggered tire sizes: P255/45ZR20 at the front and P285/40ZR20 at the rear. The front and rear sizes are different, so a four-tire replacement set should not be assumed to use one size. The listing does not establish the load and speed ratings required for a particular vehicle; check its tire-and-loading placard and confirm the replacement tire specifications before buying.
Brakes and chassis equipment
The SRT8’s listed brake rotors measure 14.2 inches at the front and 13.8 inches at the rear. Jeep’s brochure describes the larger rotors as SRT8-specific equipment. Car and Driver lists a 109.5-inch wheelbase, 188.0-inch overall length, and 3.73 axle ratio.

How much can a 2009 Grand Cherokee SRT8 tow?
Jeep’s 2008 brochure gives the 6.1L SRT HEMI 4WD a 3,500 lb gross trailer weight rating. The 2009 Mopar owner’s guide lists the 6.1L automatic configuration with the following limits and conditions:
- Maximum gross trailer weight: 3,500 lb.
- Maximum tongue weight: 350 lb.
- Gross combined weight rating (GCWR): 8,800 lb.
- Maximum trailer frontal area: 35 sq ft.
The guide says hitches should be professionally installed. It also explains that tongue weight counts against occupant and cargo capacity and must not exceed the value on the vehicle’s tire-and-loading placard. These ratings do not establish compatibility for any particular aftermarket hitch. Consult the 2009 Mopar owner’s guide and the vehicle’s placard when planning a load.
