Because the stated wet weight includes oil and fuel, it is not a dry-weight figure. The motorcycle’s substantial mass is relevant when moving it at walking speed, parking on uneven ground or considering additional cargo.

Yamaha specifies YAMALUBE 4 SAE 10W-30 or SAE 20W-40, with API service SG or higher and JASO MA. The manual gives different refill quantities depending on whether the oil-filter cartridge is replaced:

These are manual-listed capacities, not a substitute for the exact oil-change and level-check procedure. Use the 2008 manual for the motorcycle’s service steps rather than pouring in a quantity based only on this table. Final-gear oil
The manual specifies SAE 80 API GL-4 hypoid gear oil for the shaft-drive final gear, with a listed quantity of 0.20 L. Follow the manual’s procedure and check the exact vehicle before performing service.

Loading, trailers and accessories
Yamaha states in the 2008 owner’s manual: “This vehicle is not designed to pull a trailer or to be attached to a sidecar.” The manual also warns that cargo or accessories can adversely affect stability and handling when they change weight distribution.
- Do not treat the motorcycle as trailer- or sidecar-capable; Yamaha’s manual explicitly says it is not designed for either use.
- Choose accessories intended for the exact model and mount them securely as Yamaha directs.
- Consider how added weight and its position affect balance and handling before riding.

- Search the parts listing using the exact 2008 model designation, not just “Royal Star” or “Venture.”
