Which manual applies to a 2007 RSV 1000 R?
The available Aprilia workshop manual is labeled for both the RSV 1000 R and RSV 1000 R Factory, and states model coverage from 00/2003 to 10. It is a reproduction hosted by Manuals.plus, rather than a manual hosted on an Aprilia-owned domain. Its broad coverage does not establish that every procedure or specification is identical for every 2007 motorcycle or market. Confirm the motorcycle’s exact trim and consult its applicable owner’s or workshop manual before servicing it.
This distinction matters for suspension work: the manual gives different fork-oil guidance for RSV R and RFACT / RSV R OPT. Do not assume Factory and standard R procedures are interchangeable.

Scheduled work spans engine oil and filter replacement, spark plugs, air cleaner, tire checks, brake and clutch fluid, coolant, drive-chain slack and lubrication, brake-pad wear, valve clearance, steering and wheel bearings, suspension, final drive, and fuel pipes. The chart distinguishes inspections from replacements; use its item-by-item instructions to determine what is due at each service.
Aprilia’s workshop manual states: “Halve the maintenance intervals if the vehicle is used in rainy or dusty conditions, on rough roads or for racing.” Apply that shortened schedule when those conditions describe the bike’s use.

What engine oil does the manual recommend?
The lubricant table names EXTRA RAID 4 SAE 15W-50 or TEC 4T SAE 15W-50. It says alternatives should meet or exceed CCMC G-4 and API SG. These are period-specific manual recommendations, not a blanket approval of any current oil carrying a similar viscosity grade. Check the exact motorcycle’s manual and the current product specification before choosing an alternative.
What other fluids and lubricants are specified?
The manual recommends chain spray or chain lube. It also lists brake-fluid and coolant types, but those recommendations are period-specific; verify the correct specification for the exact motorcycle and follow current product labeling. For brake fluid, the manual advises using new fluid and cautions against mixing different brands or oil types without checking base compatibility.

For fork oil, the manual distinguishes the standard RSV R from RFACT / RSV R OPT: it lists F.A. 5W / F.A. 20W or FORK 5W / FORK 20W for the RSV R, and ÖHLINS 5W for RFACT / RSV R OPT. Confirm trim and market before ordering fluid or beginning fork service.
