Some 2006 Suzuki Boulevard C90 motorcycles are included in a fuel-tank safety recall, but the model year alone does not determine whether a particular bike is affected. Check the motorcycle’s 17-character VIN with Suzuki’s US recall lookup, then contact an authorized Suzuki dealer to confirm the recall status and whether the repair has been completed.
Is the 2006 Suzuki Boulevard C90 subject to a fuel-tank recall?
It may be. American Suzuki Motor Corporation’s February 3, 2006 notice covered all 1998–2005 VL1500/C90/T motorcycles and certain 2006 VL1500/C90/T Boulevard motorcycles. It did not say that every 2006 C90 was affected, so do not rely on the model year or the C90 name alone.
The 2006 Boulevard C90 is identified as a VL1500 in Suzuki parts references. The C90T is a related touring trim, but that does not mean every part or fitment is interchangeable. Use the exact motorcycle’s VIN and trim when checking applicability or ordering parts. The 2006 Suzuki C90 OEM parts catalog is organized by component and can help identify the relevant model-specific fiche.
How to check recall status by VIN
- Find the motorcycle’s 17-character VIN and enter it in Suzuki Motor USA’s recall lookup. Suzuki says the lookup covers US-spec street motorcycles and recalls issued after January 13, 2000; the page showed a data refresh date of October 2, 2026.
- Contact an authorized Suzuki dealer with the VIN. Ask whether the fuel-tank campaign applies and whether the repair is recorded as complete. The lookup is the route to current status; the original 2006 notice cannot establish the repair history of an individual motorcycle.
- If the bike may be affected and its repair status is unknown, contact Suzuki or a dealer before riding. Suzuki’s warning was directed at affected motorcycles: “SUZUKI STRONGLY RECOMMENDS THAT YOU DO NOT RIDE YOUR AFFECTED 1998~2006 VL1500 OR C90/T BOULEVARD MOTORCYCLE UNTIL THE REPAIR HAS BEEN COMPLETED”.
What the fuel-tank recall addressed
Suzuki said repeated stress near the fuel tank’s right-front mounting point could cause a hairline crack from metal fatigue. Fuel could seep from a cracked tank and create a fire hazard.

The campaign remedy was a dealer inspection of the tank and installation of improved support cushions. Suzuki said a tank found cracked would be replaced. The repair was to be performed without charge for parts or labor for motorcycles covered by the campaign. Suzuki estimated about two hours for the repair in its 2006 notice; that was the manufacturer’s estimate at the time, not a current scheduling guarantee.
Recall figures depend on the market
The Australian regulator’s record for the Suzuki VL1500K5/6 C90 Boulevard recall lists 558 affected units in Australia. That is an Australian figure, not a US affected-unit count. Suzuki’s US notice gives an estimated repair duration of two hours, not a count of affected motorcycles.

Manuals, parts and routine service
Choosing a service manual
HV PowerSports lists a 448-page service manual for Boulevard C90/C90T (VL1500) model years 2006–2009. Its listing describes troubleshooting, lubrication, maintenance, tune-up, electrical, brake, suspension and shaft-drive coverage. Before buying, confirm the edition and that it applies to the motorcycle’s exact year and trim. Suzuki also says genuine owner and service manuals are available through its manuals site.
Checking parts and oil information
For replacement parts, verify the Suzuki part number, model code, year and trim; confirm whether a listing is OEM or aftermarket. Suzuki says retail motorcycle and parts transactions are conducted through authorized dealerships. Do not buy a paid replacement tank or support cushions as a substitute for checking recall eligibility: Suzuki’s notice specifies a no-charge campaign repair for affected motorcycles.

Suzuki’s current ECSTAR oil chart lists a C90 oil kit with 3.4 US quarts, filter 16510-07J00 and drain gasket 09168-14002. The chart cautions that capacities can vary by model year and directs owners to the owner’s manual. Those kit details and quantities are not confirmed here for a 2006 C90; check the correct 2006 manual or ask a Suzuki dealer before servicing.
