Desmo was the last Paso-generation model, replacing the 906 Paso with electronic fuel injection, an alloy swingarm and 17-inch wheels. It paired a 904 cc, liquid-cooled desmodromic V-twin with a six-speed gearbox. It was not officially named “Paso,” though it is commonly treated as the final Paso in the line.
What the 1991 907 I.E. is
Ducati introduced the 907 I.E. in 1991 as the successor to the 906 Paso. MCNews describes it as the final Paso model and reports that production ended in 1992, with just over 2,300 built; that figure is the publication’s reported count, not an independently audited factory total. MCNews’ model history and specifications covers its place in the range. RM Sotheby’s also identifies it as the final Paso version. RM Sotheby’s 1991 907 I.E. listing
The change from the 906 was more than a name update. The 907 adopted Weber-Marelli electronic fuel injection adapted from the 851, an alloy swingarm and 17-inch wheels instead of the earlier 16-inch wheels. Those changes distinguish it mechanically and in wheel-and-tire fitment; do not assume a 906 specification or part number applies to a 907.

What changed from the 906 Paso
- Fueling: The 907 uses Weber-Marelli electronic fuel injection rather than the earlier model’s carburetion. MCNews describes the injection system as adapted from the 851.
- Wheels: The 907 moved to 17-inch wheels from the 906’s 16-inch wheels. This affects tire availability and fitment, so use the dimensions and clearances for the actual motorcycle rather than assuming an earlier Paso tire fits.
- Swingarm: The 907 received an alloy swingarm.
- Engine: Both models sit within the Paso family, but verify engine-specific service information and replacement parts against the 907 I.E. rather than relying on a 906 manual alone.

DucatiPaso.org’s technical FAQ points to a 907 I.E. owner’s manual, a workshop manual described as a supplement to the 906 workshop manual, a parts catalogue, a color wiring diagram and troubleshooting notes. These are community resource references, not proof that every document is an original factory publication or applies to every year and market. Check year and part number before ordering
A genuine-parts catalogue page includes 907 I.E. diagrams and identifies a front brake system as model 1991, although the page is organized under 1992. Match the motorcycle’s year and the exact part number, and confirm the fitment with the seller or catalogue before ordering. Bike-Parts-Ducati 907 I.E. catalogue
Verify tires on the individual motorcycle
The listed sizes are 120/70-17 front and 170/60-17 rear in MCNews’ specification set. A size alone does not establish whether a particular modern tire is suitable: check construction, load and speed ratings, rim compatibility, clearance and the motorcycle’s documentation. Confirm fitment for the specific bike rather than treating a search result for a “120/70-17 front motorcycle tire” as a recommendation.

What to verify when buying or maintaining one
- Confirm the model and year from the motorcycle’s identifying details and its paperwork; do not infer fitment solely from a catalogue’s category heading.
- Ask for maintenance records and documentation, especially any manual or supplement used for prior work.
- Check that any replacement part is listed for the 907 I.E. and matches the required part number.
- For tires, verify the complete specification and physical fit rather than relying on the nominal size alone.
- Compare claimed output, tank capacity or weight only when the source and measurement context are clear; published figures are not fully consistent.
