The 1987 Honda VF700C Magna owner’s manual is Honda publication 31MN0600, also identified on the reproduced manual as 31 MN0600 and OOX31-MN0-6000. It is the right reference for operating and caring for a 1987 VF700C, but it is not a full repair manual. Helm lists an English-language paper edition for the 1987 Magna 700; price and stock can change.

How to identify the correct manual

Match the year and model before using or ordering a manual. The reproduced cover reads “OWNER’S MANUAL” and “87 VF700C MAGNA.” Helm identifies its factory-issued paper edition as the 1987 VF700C Magna Owner Manual, item/part number 31MN0600, in English.

Helm’s product listing is the source for the paper edition and its stated 1987 Magna 700 coverage: 1987 VF700C Magna Owner Manual, item 31MN0600. Check the live listing for current price and stock.

Honda UK points motorcycle owners to Honda’s official owner-manual website and describes MOTOPUB as a hub for Honda publications. That guidance does not confirm that the specific US-market 1987 VF700C manual is available as a download: Honda UK manuals and guides.

What the owner’s manual covers

The reproduced 45-page document is an owner’s guide for normal use, safety and routine care. Its contents include:

  • Safe riding rules, parts locations, instruments and indicators.
  • Operating components, controls, helmet holder and storage.
  • Operation and maintenance, including routine checks and service records.
  • Brake and final-drive oil information, spark plugs, idle speed, wheel removal and side-stand care.
  • Fuse replacement, specifications and consumer information.

Helm describes its edition as covering safety information, service and maintenance schedules, storage and appearance care, routine maintenance such as oil changes, and basic troubleshooting. The exact procedures and intervals should be taken from the manual itself, not inferred from its contents list.

Owner’s manual versus service manual or parts catalog

Resource Best used for What is established
Owner’s manual Operating the motorcycle, safety guidance, routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting. Honda’s reproduced 1987 VF700C manual is 45 pages and bears publication identifiers 31 MN0600 and OOX31-MN0-6000. Helm lists an English paper edition, item 31MN0600.
Service manual More involved repair and diagnostic work. The owner’s manual directs owners to an official Honda service manual or authorized Honda dealer for work requiring more specialized procedures. A hosted index lists topics including engine, fuel, maintenance, chassis, brakes, electrical systems and troubleshooting; the index is a discovery aid, not confirmation of a current official sales channel.
Parts catalog Identifying components and Honda part-number references, often with exploded assemblies. A Helm result describes a 1987 VF700C paper parts catalog. Current stock was not confirmed.

Honda’s owner’s manual recommends obtaining an official service manual through an authorized Honda dealer for owners with the necessary mechanical knowledge and tools. For specialized work, it directs carburetor synchronization and steering-head-bearing service to an authorized Honda dealer unless the owner has appropriate service data and mechanical qualification. A short owner’s guide should not be treated as enough information for complex repairs.

Safety and maintenance guidance

The manual says the motorcycle is designed to carry the operator and one passenger and warns against exceeding the capacity shown on the tire information label. It also calls for a pre-ride inspection and compliance with state and local laws. For a specific motorcycle, check its own labels, present condition and the rules that apply where it is ridden.

These are not a guarantee that a particular surviving motorcycle still has its original configuration. Confirm the frame/model, tire information label, installed components, regional configuration and any modifications before selecting replacement parts. The available manual extract does not establish every specification, maintenance interval, fluid capacity or adjustment value; do not fill those gaps using a later Magna year or a different VF700C edition.
