The 1969 Ford Mustang BOSS 520 is a bespoke fastback, not a factory Ford trim. V8 Werk describes a restoration completed from 2016 to 2022, powered by a fuel-injected 520-cubic-inch Jon Kaase V8 and lists its output as 900 PS. That figure is the builder page’s specification; it does not explain whether it came from a dyno test, an engine rating, or an estimate.
Was the 1969 Mustang BOSS 520 a factory model?
No. The car documented by V8 Werk is a custom build, not a factory 1969 Boss 520 model. The First Mustang Club of Germany’s history page describes the factory Boss models as the 4.9-liter Boss 302 and the 7.03-liter Boss 429; it does not list a Boss 520. That club history is useful context, though it is not a substitute for Ford archival records.
“Boss 520” is used for custom Mustangs with 520-cubic-inch engines, and it does not identify one standardized specification. A separate 1967 Boss 520 build covered by MotorTrend and the Ringbrothers 1969 Mustang Mach 1 UNKL covered by The Drive are different cars.
What engine and power does the V8 Werk car have?

V8 Werk lists an 8.5-liter (520-cubic-inch) Jon Kaase V8 with fuel injection. The page identifies the car as a fastback and says its restoration ran from 2016 through 2022.

Power figure
V8 Werk lists output as 900 PS, but gives no measurement method or supporting dyno record. Treat it as the page’s stated specification, not as an independently verified result. It should not be conflated with the 700 horsepower reported by The Drive in 2019 for the separate Ringbrothers 1969 Mach 1 UNKL, or the 785 horsepower and 705 lb-ft reported by MotorTrend in 2017 for a different 1967 Boss 520.

“Ultimate” works as a description of the build’s ambition: a classic fastback paired with a large fuel-injected V8 and substantial chassis, brake, and interior changes. It is not an established performance ranking. No comparable road-test, acceleration, braking, or lap-time results are available for this particular car, so the published specifications alone cannot show how it performs against other high-powered Mustangs.

The car’s VIN-linked provenance and original build documentation have not been established in the cited material. For a definitive account of its history or the basis for the 900 PS figure, the useful evidence would be the build records and a documented dyno test.
