You can still find used all-wheel-drive vehicles near or below $10,000, but a model name or national price snapshot does not guarantee that a specific AWD example will fit your budget or be in good condition. Kelley Blue Book’s October 2023 shortlist supplies 10 candidates; Cars.com’s March 2026 listing snapshot adds useful price context for three more models, but does not verify that every example is AWD or under budget. The 15 entries below are a practical shortlist—not a current, data-backed ranking from first to fifteenth. Check local listings, the exact vehicle’s drivetrain and condition, and your full purchase costs before deciding.
How this shortlist is ranked
The first 10 entries come from Kelley Blue Book’s October 30, 2023 list of used AWD vehicles it considered available under $10,000 at that time. The last three are additional models with relevant Cars.com listing data from March 2026, but that data does not establish that every example is AWD or priced below $10,000. The list is ordered for shopping usefulness, not as a verified current comparison of all 15 models. Price, configuration, safety evidence, space and equipment vary by vehicle; neither source certifies the reliability or condition of an individual used car.
For all entries, treat the $10,000 figure as a hard purchase budget, not a target asking price. Leave room for taxes, registration, insurance, tires and immediate maintenance. A listing median is not a sale price or a promise of local availability.
10 candidates from Kelley Blue Book’s 2023 list
1. 2013 Subaru Outback
Kelley Blue Book described this wagon as offering generous cargo space and towing capacity up to 3,000 pounds. Its article highlighted a higher trim with a 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine. 2. 2013 Toyota RAV4
KBB said AWD was available across trim levels and that a 2.5-liter four-cylinder was standard. Confirm that the actual vehicle has AWD; a RAV4 nameplate alone does not establish its drivetrain.
3. 2012 Honda Pilot
KBB described seating for as many as eight and said Honda’s Variable Torque Management AWD could be selected with any trim. Check the individual vehicle’s equipment and condition, especially if you need all three seating rows.
4. 2010 Honda CR-V
KBB discussed the EX-L with Honda RealTime AWD. That does not mean every 2010 CR-V trim has AWD, so verify the configuration by VIN or other vehicle-specific documentation.

5. 2012 Subaru Forester
KBB said AWD was standard and described a spacious cabin. The top 2.5XT Touring versions use a turbocharged engine; confirm the engine and trim on the vehicle you are considering.
6. 2010 Toyota Highlander
KBB listed AWD versions, including a Hybrid variant, and reported 26 mpg combined for the AWD hybrid it discussed. That is KBB’s published figure, not a new independent test; check the specific vehicle’s configuration and condition.
7. 2012 Mazda CX-9
KBB described a three-row SUV with a 273-hp V6. The third row may be useful for children, but do not assume it will be comfortable for adult passengers. Verify AWD on the specific vehicle.

8. 2011 Volvo XC70
KBB presented this as a wagon alternative with raised ride height and AWD-oriented utility. The available description supports a limited case for considering it; inspect the individual car’s records and condition rather than inferring reliability from the model name.
9. 2014 Nissan Rogue
KBB said AWD was available with every trim and discussed the Rogue SL. Treat trim as a lead to investigate, not proof of a particular car’s equipment; verify the drivetrain and features for the vehicle you find.

KBB said AWD was optional with the base engine and standard with the more powerful twin-turbo V6. Check both engine and drivetrain on the actual vehicle before comparing it with other Flex listings.

Three more models with March 2026 price context
Cars.com’s figures below are March 2026 listing snapshots, not guaranteed sale prices, and they do not prove that a particular AWD example can be bought under $10,000. The listed mileage figures are average miles in those listings, not a target or a reliability verdict.
11. 2014–15 Subaru Outback
Cars.com reported median asking prices of about $10,000 for these model years. Its March 2026 listing snapshot showed average mileage of 126,935 for 2014 and 125,281 for 2015; EPA-rated combined fuel economy across listed variants was 20–28 mpg. AWD was standard in both years. 12. 2016 Chevrolet Equinox
Cars.com reported a median asking price of about $10,000 and average mileage of 96,677 in March 2026 listings. AWD was available on LS, LT and LTZ versions; the L is front-wheel drive. Cars.com reported 18–26 mpg combined and an IIHS Top Safety Pick designation for the model year. Confirm the trim and drivetrain before treating an Equinox listing as an AWD candidate.

Cars.com’s March 2026 listings showed a median asking price of about $11,000 and average mileage of 123,816, putting it above the stated budget at the median. The article reports 26–29 mpg combined and notes that AWD configuration should be checked; it describes the 2.5-liter engine as an alternative to the 2.0-liter. A below-median local asking price is not evidence that a vehicle is AWD or in sound condition.
Two additional candidates to investigate locally

Consider this only if you find an AWD vehicle with a documented configuration and a price that leaves room for ownership costs. Compare its service records, mileage, condition and local asking price with the 2013 RAV4 candidate; the available source material does not establish a current under-$10,000 price or model-specific reliability claim for the 2015.
15. 2014 Honda CR-V AWD
This is another local-inventory lead, not a verified under-budget pick. Verify AWD on the exact trim and vehicle, then assess its records and condition against the 2010 CR-V candidate. The available source material does not establish a current price or model-specific reliability claim for the 2014.

How to choose the right one
- Confirm AWD on the actual vehicle. Use the VIN, window sticker or reliable vehicle-specific documentation; trim names and model names can be insufficient.
- Search by total budget. Compare local listings and reserve money for taxes, registration, insurance, tires and immediate maintenance instead of spending the full amount on the asking price.
- Match the body and seating to your needs. A wagon, compact SUV and three-row SUV solve different cargo and passenger problems. Check whether a third row suits the people who will use it.
- Compare the individual cars. Review mileage, maintenance and title history, condition, equipment, fuel economy, price and any model-year safety evidence you can verify. A shortlist cannot predict an individual vehicle’s reliability.
- Check recalls and arrange an independent inspection. Neither source verifies recall status or condition for a specific car. Ask a qualified mechanic to inspect a vehicle before purchase.
