One current U.S. example, KTM’s 2027 FREERIDE E, has a $9,999 base MSRP—but its stated $690 freight charge puts the base-plus-freight total above $10,000.
What the 15-model list actually includes
Gadget Review published its list on June 6, 2025. Its entries span several kinds of electric two-wheelers and off-road machines, so the headline’s “motorcycles” label is broader than the vehicles themselves. The article also reports prices and specifications that should be treated as dated claims, not as confirmed current offers.

Which current price examples fit a $10,000 budget?
These U.S. manufacturer-listed prices and claims were checked on October 4, 2026. They are useful reference points, not a like-for-like performance ranking: the models differ in intended use, and their range figures use different bases.
| Model | Published U.S. price | Manufacturer-stated performance or battery details | What to account for |
|---|---|---|---|
| KTM 2027 FREERIDE E | $9,999 base MSRP, plus $690 freight | 19.2 kW peak power; 59 mph top speed; 5.5 kWh interchangeable battery; up to three hours of riding | Base MSRP is below $10,000, but base price plus stated freight is $10,689, before any other applicable charges. It is off-road-focused; check local registration and use rules. KTM states an up-to-two-year manufacturer warranty. |
| Can-Am 2026 Pulse | Starts at $10,999 | Up to 100 miles city range or 80 miles combined under WMTC; 0–60 mph in 3.8 seconds; 20–80% Level 2 charge in 50 minutes | Above the budget before transport and preparation fees, which may vary. City and combined WMTC range are different measures. |
| LiveWire S4 Honcho | $4,999 Trail; $5,499 Street | Not stated in the cited price information. | LiveWire uses Trail and Street categories; do not assume the Trail configuration is road legal. |
| LiveWire ONE | $13,999 | Not stated in the cited price information. | Above the stated budget. |
| RFN Warrior Pro SX-E15 | $5,499 | Claimed top speed of 56 mph | RFN says it is exclusively for off-road recreational use and is not classified or equipped as a street-legal e-bike, moped or motorcycle. |
These are manufacturer-listed figures, not delivered quotes. Freight, transport, preparation, dealer charges and taxes can change what a buyer pays; ask for an itemized out-the-door price rather than comparing base prices alone.

How to judge performance without comparing unlike claims
Start with where you can ride
Decide whether you need a road-going motorcycle, a moped, a scooter or an off-road machine. A model’s top speed or low sticker price does not establish that it can be registered or legally ridden on public roads. Confirm the vehicle’s classification and required equipment with the manufacturer, seller and relevant local authority for your location.
Read range claims with their test basis
Range figures are not interchangeable. Can-Am separates its Pulse’s claimed city range from its combined WMTC figure. For other models, look for the stated test cycle or riding conditions, and expect actual distance to depend on factors such as speed, terrain, temperature and load. If a seller cannot identify the basis for a range number, do not treat it as directly comparable to a tested figure.

Match the performance figure to your use
Top speed matters for the roads and terrain you plan to ride; acceleration matters for how quickly the bike reaches speed. Peak power alone does not tell you either the bike’s real-world range or how comfortably it fits your intended riding. Use a manufacturer’s exact claim and context rather than ranking models by one headline number.

Check charging, fit and support
- Charging: Confirm what charging equipment is included, which supply it requires, and whether a quoted time applies to a particular charger and battery state. The Pulse’s cited 50-minute claim is specifically for a Level 2 charge from 20% to 80%.
- Battery: A removable or interchangeable battery can make charging and storage easier, but verify what is included and how replacements are supported. KTM describes the FREERIDE E battery as interchangeable.
- Fit and weight: Check seat height, overall weight and how the bike feels at a standstill and at low speed. The available figures here do not establish a comparable weight or fit for the 15 older-list entries.
- Warranty and service: Read the warranty terms, exclusions and service arrangements for the exact model and market. A manufacturer’s stated warranty duration does not by itself describe dealer coverage or parts availability.
How to verify a candidate before buying
- Find the exact model and configuration. Check whether the listing is for a road, Trail, off-road or other version; trim names can correspond to different equipment or legal status.
- Confirm current U.S. availability and price. Ask a manufacturer or authorized dealer for a current written quote that includes freight, preparation and other required charges.
- Verify road eligibility for your location. Confirm registration, licensing, equipment and use requirements with the relevant local authority. Do not infer street legality from a motorcycle-like appearance or a stated top speed.
- Get the performance claim in context. Ask for the range test basis, charging setup and conditions behind any advertised figures, then compare only figures measured on a comparable basis.
- Review ownership details. Check battery replacement support, warranty terms, dealer service and parts access before paying a deposit.
