Treat this as a guide to prominent, widely recognized brands in Walmart’s shop-by-brand catalog—not a Walmart sales leaderboard. The right choice depends on your vehicle’s exact fitment, climate, driving priorities, warranty and current local stock.
The 13 brands you will commonly find at Walmart
| Brand | USITC market positioning | What to compare when shopping |
|---|---|---|
| Goodyear | Frequently identified as a category-1 brand, associated with premium quality, recognition, warranties and technology. | Compare the specific all-season, all-weather, touring or truck model for wet grip, noise, ride and warranty. |
| Michelin | Frequently identified as category 1. | Check the model’s tread-life warranty, weather rating and price premium against comparable alternatives. |
| Bridgestone | Frequently identified as category 1. | Match the model to your vehicle, season and load/speed requirements rather than choosing by brand alone. |
| Continental | Frequently identified as category 1. | Compare wet and dry performance claims, comfort, warranty and available sizes. |
| Firestone | Commonly identified as category 2. | Evaluate the individual line’s warranty, weather capability and installed price. |
| BFGoodrich | Commonly identified as category 2. | For trucks and SUVs, verify load rating, terrain suitability, winter marking and road-noise expectations. |
| Cooper | Commonly identified as category 2; Goodyear describes Cooper as focused on high-quality tires. | Compare warranty length, highway comfort, wet braking and value with similar sizes. |
| Hankook | Commonly identified as category 2. | Check the exact model’s season designation, mileage warranty and availability in your size. |
| Kumho | Commonly identified as category 2. | Compare price, warranty, wet-weather capability and ride quality with other tires in the same size. |
| Pirelli | Frequently identified as category 1. | Confirm the correct speed and load ratings, especially for performance-oriented vehicles. |
| Falken | Walmart lists the brand; the cited USITC tier summary does not assign Falken a category. | Use the model’s published weather rating, warranty and fitment details as the decision points. |
| General Tire | Commonly identified as category 2. | Compare truck/SUV or passenger models by load rating, terrain use, noise and tread warranty. |
| Yokohama | Commonly identified as category 2. | Check the model’s season, wet/dry priorities, warranty and current stock. |
The USITC describes brand, quality and price as the main ways tire companies differentiate products. Its category-1 description generally means higher-priced products associated with premium quality, brand recognition, mileage warranties, major original-equipment manufacturers and technology. Category-2 products are more price-driven and typically have less brand recognition. These are broad industry classifications, not a guarantee that every tire from a brand performs the same way; manufacturers can place a producer in more than one category.

Goodyear’s own brand description calls Goodyear a premium name associated with durability, performance and innovation. It describes Cooper as committed to high-quality tires and Dunlop as offering long-lasting quality at an accessible level. Those statements are brand positioning, not independent tests of every model sold at Walmart.
What “best” means for your Walmart purchase
Price and value
Compare the complete installed cost, not only the shelf price. A less expensive tire can be better value if its warranty, expected wear and performance meet your needs; a premium tire can justify a higher price when its fit, weather capability or warranty addresses a real requirement.

Dry and wet-road behavior
Look for independent test information when available, then check the model’s specifications and reviews for wet braking, dry handling, ride and noise. Do not infer performance from a brand name or category alone.
Season and weather
All-season tires are the common choice for cars and SUVs in moderate conditions. All-weather tires are designed for broader cold-weather use. Dedicated winter tires carry the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol and are optimized for snow braking and handling. Choose according to the conditions you actually drive, not the label’s marketing appeal.
Rank #2
- Patented tread pattern: Provides a comfortable and quiet ride
- Efficient fuel-saving tread compound: Offers grip in wet, dry, snow, and ice
- Specially formulated rubber compound and tread features: Low rolling resistance, for eco-friendly driving
- Optimized contact area with the road: Provides reliable tread life
Tread-life warranty and wear
Read the model-specific mileage warranty and its conditions. Rotation records, inflation, alignment, vehicle load and driving style affect how long any tire lasts; a warranty is not a promise that a tire will reach that mileage in every vehicle.
Fitment and availability
A tire is only suitable when its size, construction, load index, speed rating and vehicle application match your car. Walmart inventory, installation appointments and prices can vary by store and change over time.
Rank #3
- Designed for use on passenger cars
- Backed by a 55,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life
- Specialized tread pattern provides solid handling and traction
- Optimized footprint promotes stability and reliable traction
- Circumferential grooves enhance wet handling and hydroplaning resistance by funneling water out of the tread
Michelin, Goodyear or Bridgestone: how to decide
All three are frequently classified as category-1 brands, so the logo alone does not identify a winner. Start with the exact tire size and required ratings, then compare equivalent models on weather capability, warranty, comfort, noise, current price and local availability. If two models meet those requirements, choose the one with the better documented warranty and total installed value for your driving.
Global market share is not Walmart sales
Bridgestone Corporation’s 2023 data book reports these 2022 global tire-company sales shares:
Rank #4
- Features an all-season tread design
- Sports a black sidewall
- Comes with a 50,000-mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty
- Closed shoulder design helps reduce tread noise for a quieter ride and improves steering response
- Chamfered tread blocks and a reinforced groove base enhance durability and extend the tire's lifespan

| Bridgestone | 14.1% |

How to identify the right tire for your car
- Read the required size. Copy the full code from the current sidewall or vehicle handbook, including letters and the rim diameter.
- Confirm the vehicle application. Select the correct passenger-car, SUV, crossover, trailer or light-truck type.
- Match load and speed ratings. Meet or exceed the vehicle manufacturer’s required load index and speed rating; do not substitute a lower rating for a cheaper price.
- Choose weather capability. Select all-season, all-weather or winter tires based on temperatures, snow and ice where you drive.
- Compare the complete specification. Review warranty, expected tread life, noise, comfort, wet and dry behavior, and the installed price.
- Verify the transaction. Check current Walmart stock, installation availability and the tire’s date code before fitting.
- Maintain the set. Use the vehicle’s recommended cold pressure, inspect regularly and rotate at the recommended intervals. Keep a pressure gauge, 12V portable inflator and lug wrench for routine checks and emergencies.
Are Walmart-exclusive or house-brand tires any good?
Quality cannot be determined from the retail channel alone. Judge any exclusive or house-brand tire by the same evidence: correct fitment, certification, model-specific warranty, weather rating, independent test results where available, expected wear, ride and noise, and the total installed price. The cited public material does not establish a universal quality verdict for Walmart-exclusive tires.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Walmart publish a best-selling tire-brand ranking?
Not in the public material reviewed for this guide. The 13 names are prominent brands in Walmart’s shop-by-brand catalog, not a verified Walmart top-13 sales list.
Which Walmart tire brand lasts the longest?
There is no brand-wide answer. Compare the exact model’s mileage warranty, maintenance requirements, vehicle fit and independent wear evidence.
Is a category-1 tire always better than a category-2 tire?
No. The USITC categories describe broad market positioning by price, recognition and quality associations. They do not replace model-level testing or fitment checks.
The Bottom Line
Choose the best-matched model, not simply the most famous logo: verify size and ratings, select the right weather capability, compare warranty and total installed value, and confirm current Walmart stock before buying.
