The most expensive Rolls-Royces in this ranking range from classic cars sold at auction to one-off modern commissions whose prices are estimates reported by the press. SlashGear’s list puts the Droptail and Boat Tail near $30 million, but Rolls-Royce has not confirmed those figures as transaction prices. Among the historic cars, the 1912 Silver Ghost known as The Corgi and a 10 HP lead the ranking’s auction results.
How to read this ranking
The order and figures below follow SlashGear’s ranking of the 12 most expensive Rolls-Royce cars. It combines public auction results with press-reported estimates for modern Coachbuild commissions. An auction result records a sale; an estimated commission price does not. The two kinds of figure are not directly comparable, and this is not a definitive ledger of every Rolls-Royce’s current value.
For the auction cars, the dollar equivalents are approximate conversions reported alongside the original sale currencies. They reflect the source’s figures and dates, not updated exchange rates or present-day valuations. The ranking places The Corgi ahead of the 10 HP by reported dollar equivalent, although the cars sold in different years and currencies.

The auction entries illustrate why a price alone cannot tell the story of a classic car. The ranking highlights originality and provenance in its discussion of Silver Ghost examples; rarity, condition, documented history, sale date and the type of sale also matter when comparing results. Those factors help explain an individual result but do not turn it into a current valuation for another car of the same name.

Modern Coachbuild commissions: reported estimates, not confirmed prices
Rolls-Royce describes Coachbuild as an invitation-only collaboration in which clients work with the company’s designers, engineers and artisans to create an original motor car. Its account of contemporary Coachbuild projects traces a sequence from Sweptail to Boat Tail to Droptail. The company says Sweptail was commissioned in 2013 and revealed in 2017.

The figures for the Boat Tail and Droptail are not confirmed sale prices. Rolls-Royce states that three Boat Tails were completed, each unique to its commissioning client. The first two were unveiled at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in 2021 and 2022; the third was not publicly exhibited at its owner’s request. Droptail, meanwhile, is a series of four commissions, not one car with a single published price. A reported amount for a commission should not be mistaken for a confirmed price applying to every example.

What makes Boat Tail distinct
Rolls-Royce describes Boat Tail as the culmination of a four-year collaboration with three clients. Its design takes inspiration from yachts and includes a rear hosting suite with a parasol. A two-sided timepiece developed with Bovet 1822 was part of a partnership lasting more than three years. These details help explain the scale and individual character of the project, but they do not verify the reported near-$30-million figure.
In the company’s official Boat Tail description, CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös called it “our most ambitious project yet” and said Coachbuild had “set a new standard” for Bespoke. Rolls-Royce’s press release describes the car as the result of a four-year collaboration with three clients.

What the ranking can—and cannot—tell you
- It can show reported historical results. The classic entries are tied to named auction houses, years and sale currencies.
- It can show the scale of reported bespoke estimates. Sweptail, Boat Tail and Droptail are presented among the highest-priced examples, but their listed amounts are not confirmed transaction figures.
- It cannot establish a single, apples-to-apples value order. The list mixes auction results from different years and currencies with estimates for private commissions, and it does not represent current market values.
