2. Audi A4

A compact SUV to consider when a higher seating position and family-friendly versatility matter. What Car?’s UK used-review index describes the Q3 as refined and versatile for families; that editorial description is not U.S. reliability data or a substitute for inspecting the specific vehicle.
7. Audi Q5
A midsize SUV candidate for buyers who need more space than a Q3. A secondary guide identifies the 2018-and-newer Q5 as a lead and flags 2008–2016 B8 Q5s with earlier EA888 engines for extra scrutiny. These are not manufacturer recommendations or independently established reliability results; verify the specific year, engine and service history.
8. Audi Q7
A larger SUV to consider if your passenger and cargo needs point beyond a compact or midsize model. What Car?’s latest survey excerpt gives the Q7 a score of 80.8%, but the year and methodology are not identified in the excerpt. It is UK survey context, not a U.S. ranking or a prediction for a particular used Q7.
9. Audi TT
A compact, style-focused model for shoppers whose priorities differ from those of a family-car buyer. Confirm the exact configuration and practical limitations—especially seating and cargo needs—and give the car the same record and inspection checks as any other used Audi.

10. Audi e-tron
An electric Audi option for a buyer whose charging access and driving routine suit an EV. Before committing, check the specific vehicle’s condition, service and repair records, warranty coverage and recall status, and make sure its range and charging arrangements work for your use.
How to choose among them
Start with what the car must do, then compare actual examples. A model that fits your needs is not automatically a sound buy if its maintenance is undocumented or an inspection reveals problems.
- Match the body style to your use: assess passenger capacity, cargo space and intended driving before narrowing by model.
- Compare like with like: record each candidate’s year, generation, engine, drivetrain and transmission. Equipment and powertrains can vary within one model line.
- Price the whole ownership decision: consider the purchase price alongside a realistic repair reserve and whether you can access a qualified Audi or Volkswagen Group specialist.
- Check protection: establish whether factory or CPO coverage remains, and read the actual terms rather than relying on a seller’s summary.
What the reliability figures do—and don’t—tell you
What Car?’s retrieved UK survey excerpt reports an 88.5% reliability score for an Audi Sportback, says 35% of respondent cars experienced a fault, and attributes one quarter of reported issues to infotainment. The excerpt does not identify the survey year or provide enough detail here to establish a U.S. result. “Audi Sportback” also does not identify a single model or model year, so the figure should not be used to choose a specific used car.

The same source reports an 80.8% score for the Q7 in its latest survey, without a year specified in the excerpt. Treat these figures as limited UK survey context—not comparable, year-specific U.S. ratings or a substitute for examining an individual car.

How to vet a specific used Audi
1. Compare records with the correct service schedule
Ask for invoices and maintenance records, then compare them with the schedule for the exact car. Audi provides maintenance schedules and manuals by VIN or model details; requirements depend on model, trim and mileage. Use Audi’s maintenance schedule and manual lookup to identify the applicable information.
2. Check recalls and service campaigns by VIN
Get the car’s 17-character VIN and enter it in Audi’s Recall / Service Campaign Lookup. Audi says the lookup covers customer notifications from the past 15 years. Ask the seller for documentation that applicable work was completed, and contact an Audi dealer if you need clarification.
3. Arrange an independent specialist inspection
Have an independent Audi or Volkswagen Group specialist inspect the vehicle, scan relevant systems and explain any stored faults. Audi says its own technicians use Audi-specific diagnostic tools; that statement does not establish whether a particular consumer scanner supports the car or the functions you need. An Audi-compatible OBD-II scanner can be a preliminary aid only when compatibility is confirmed for the vehicle and required functions. It is not a replacement for a professional pre-purchase inspection.
4. Check the warranty and any CPO claim
For U.S. Audi Certified pre-owned vehicles, Audi says eligible cars must be five years old or newer, have no more than 60,000 miles and meet program criteria, including a history report and comprehensive inspection. Audi says its CPO Limited Warranty continues for one year or 20,000 miles, whichever comes first, after the new-vehicle warranty ends if applicable. CPO vehicles are sold through U.S. Audi dealers. Confirm eligibility and coverage for the particular car, and read the warranty booklet for its terms and exclusions.
