Was the 2025 RAV4 redesigned?
No. Toyota’s 2025 materials identify that model as part of the fifth-generation RAV4 lineup. The sixth-generation redesign was announced for model year 2026, so predictions that Toyota would introduce it for 2025 did not match the model year Toyota ultimately named. What was new on the 2025 Toyota RAV4?
The available Toyota material describes the 2025 lineup as RAV4, RAV4 Hybrid, and RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid. Toyota also said the Plug-in Hybrid’s name changed while its powertrain remained the same. That is not evidence of a new generation or a new plug-in-hybrid powertrain. Equipment and features depend on grade and market, so a feature shown for one version should not be assumed to appear on every 2025 RAV4. What Toyota actually announced for the 2026 RAV4
Toyota announced the all-new sixth-generation RAV4 on May 20, 2025. The announcement was for the U.S. lineup; its details should not be applied automatically to RAV4s sold in other markets.

Three design styles and seven grades
Toyota described three styles—Core, Rugged, and Sport—across seven grades. The announcement highlighted a new-look Woodland and the first GR SPORT RAV4 for the U.S. market. These are 2026 announcements, not 2025 equipment or trim updates. Toyota’s 2026 RAV4 announcement lists the announced lineup.
HEV and PHEV powertrains
Toyota said the 2026 lineup would be fully electrified, with hybrid-electric (HEV) and plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) choices. For the 2026 RAV4 PHEV, Toyota announced up to 320 hp and an estimated 50 miles of electric driving range. Those are manufacturer-announced figures, not independent test results; actual range can depend on conditions and use.

What to check when shopping
- Confirm the model year from the vehicle listing or identification information; a 2025 RAV4 is not the sixth-generation redesign.
