The Yangwang U9 is BYD’s electric supercar, launched in China in 2024 with four independent motors, DiSus-X active suspension and manufacturer-published performance figures. Since then, BYD has announced much faster records for two distinct track-focused derivatives: the U9 Track Edition and the limited U9 Xtreme. Those results do not describe the standard U9.
1. The U9 launched as YANGWANG’s electric supercar
BYD introduced the U9 on February 25, 2024, calling it the first pure-electric supercar from its high-end YANGWANG brand. The company announced a launch price of RMB 1.68 million and said deliveries would begin that summer. Those are launch-era China-market details, not a current price or a guarantee that the car can be ordered in a particular country today. BYD’s launch announcement.
2. Four motors control torque at each wheel
The U9 uses BYD’s e⁴ platform, which the company describes as four independent electric motors with independent torque output control at each wheel. BYD listed 1,300 horsepower and 1,680 N·m of maximum torque for the launch model. These are manufacturer specifications; the announcement does not provide an independent measurement or a detailed breakdown of how output is distributed in different conditions. BYD’s launch announcement.
3. DiSus-X is the active suspension system
DiSus-X is the U9’s signature active body-control system. BYD says it allows up to 75 mm of adjustable suspension travel and a peak single-axis lifting speed of up to 500 mm/s. The company describes the system as supporting body control during braking, acceleration, cornering and road impacts. Demonstrations in which the car jumps or dances showcase its movement capability; they are not, by themselves, evidence of ordinary-road handling or comfort. BYD’s launch announcement.

- Brand new box. Detailed exterior. Real rubber tires. True-to-scale detail. Die-cast metal body. Officially licensed product. Does not have any openings. Comes in a plastic display showcase. Manufacturer's original unopened packaging. Dimensions approximately L-2.625 inches long.
4. The launch performance figures are manufacturer claims
For the U9 announced in 2024, BYD published a 0–100 km/h time of 2.36 seconds, a top speed of 309.19 km/h and a 0–400 m time of 9.78 seconds. These are BYD’s figures, not independently verified test results in the cited announcement. They also should not be confused with the later records set by the Track Edition and U9 Xtreme. BYD’s launch announcement.
5. The battery and charging details stop short of a range estimate
BYD identifies the U9’s battery as its Blade Battery and describes dual-plug ultra-fast charging with maximum charging power of 500 kW. The launch material does not give a charging duration or a driving-range figure in the passage describing these features. Peak charging power alone cannot establish how long a charge takes or how much range the car delivers. BYD’s launch announcement.
6. BYD says track work informed cooling and aerodynamics
BYD says track testing informed thermal-management tuning that increased maximum cooling capacity by 100%, and lists 12 active and passive aerodynamic packages. The announcement does not supply a test protocol, baseline conditions or independent validation for these claims, so they should be read as manufacturer descriptions rather than comparable third-party measurements. BYD’s launch announcement.

7. The structure and cabin combine performance and technology claims
BYD describes a super carbon-fiber cabin structure and CTB technology, and states torsional stiffness of 54,425 N·m/degree and roof single-side compressive load above 11 tons. These are manufacturer-stated figures, not independent structural-test results in the cited material.

The same launch announcement lists DiLink150, a 4 nm 5G chip, two 14-way adjustable seats, Dynaudio Evidence audio and track information for nearly 30 circuits in China. These are equipment claims; the announcement is not a review of their performance or usability. BYD’s launch announcement.
8. The 472.41 km/h result belongs to the Track Edition
BYD reported that a U9 Track Edition reached 472.41 km/h at Germany’s ATP Papenburg test track on August 8, 2025; the company announced the result on August 26. BYD says this derivative shares the U9’s e⁴ and DiSus-X architecture but adds a 1200V electrical architecture, a high-output quad-motor system and a track-specific semi-slick tire developed with Giti. It is a track-focused variant, and its speed is a BYD-reported test result—not the standard U9’s top speed. BYD’s Track Edition announcement.

9. The U9 Xtreme set separate speed and lap records
BYD reported that the U9 Xtreme reached 496.22 km/h at Papenburg on September 14, 2025, in an announcement dated September 22. The company also reported a 6:59.157 Nürburgring Nordschleife lap for the Xtreme on August 22, announced October 22. Both results belong to the Xtreme derivative, not the standard U9 or the Track Edition. BYD said a series of no more than 30 U9 Xtreme cars would be made available to customers; this is the company’s announced production plan, not confirmation of local availability.
