A new Corvette and a decades-old used one are not interchangeable, so use the model-year manual and the car’s records as your starting point.
1. Your exact car’s manual is the first reference
Corvettes vary by model year, generation, trim, and equipment. Chevrolet provides free downloadable owner’s manuals; select the vehicle’s year, make, and model on its Manuals and Guides page. Printed manuals may be available for a fee.
Use the manual for the specific car—not a guide for a similar-looking Corvette—to learn its controls, warning messages, service requirements, and equipment. Chevrolet’s maintenance schedule guidance also directs owners to the manual for vehicle-specific information.
2. The covered maintenance visit is limited
Chevrolet’s U.S. covered-maintenance page says new Corvette owners receive one covered maintenance visit, including an oil change using Mobil 1 and a multi-point inspection, if completed within the first 24 months of ownership. The page does not establish that this applies to every used Corvette or set out every eligibility condition. Ask a Chevrolet dealer to confirm whether a particular car qualifies.

3. Tire age matters as well as tread
GM’s 2025 U.S. Corvette owner’s manual recommends replacing tires, including a spare if equipped, after six years regardless of tread wear. This is the manual’s recommendation for the 2025 model, not a universal legal rule for every year or tire. The manual explains how to use the DOT Tire Identification Number date code to identify when a tire was made.

- Brand new box.
- Real rubber tires. Has opening doors.
- Detailed interior, exterior. Made of diecast with some plastic parts.
- Dimensions approximately L-7.5, W-3.5, H-2 inches.
The same manual recommends tires with the original General Motors Tire Performance Criteria Specification (TPC Spec), replacing worn tires as a complete set of four, and avoiding mixtures of different sizes, brands, tread patterns, or types. Check the exact model-year manual and the markings on the tires fitted to the car. Read the 2025 Corvette owner’s manual.
4. Extended parking calls for planning
GM’s 2025 manual warns that leaving the car parked for an extended period can create tire flat spots. For a vehicle stored for at least a month, it recommends a cool, dry, clean location away from direct sunlight. Check the relevant model-year manual for storage guidance specific to your Corvette and its equipment.

5. Warranty coverage has terms and exclusions
Chevrolet’s current U.S. warranty information describes new-vehicle bumper-to-bumper coverage of three years or 36,000 miles and powertrain coverage typically of five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. These are general descriptions, not a guarantee of remaining coverage on a particular car. Warranty terms depend on the vehicle and its history.
Chevrolet lists routine maintenance and damage caused by misuse, insufficient maintenance, or alterations among exclusions, and says warranty repairs require diagnosis by a GM dealer. Its page also notes a special six-month retention rule for transfer of certain 2023 Corvette Z06 coverage. Check the VIN and applicable warranty booklet before relying on coverage; see Chevrolet Warranty Information.

6. There is no dependable universal ownership budget
Insurance, tires, fuel, service, and repairs vary with location, driver, model year, trim, mileage, condition, and how the car is used. No comparable, defensible premium or annual ownership-cost figure applies to all Corvette owners.
- Get an insurance quote for the exact car and intended use before buying.
- Ask a qualified shop to inspect the car and estimate near-term service needs.
- Use the car’s records and condition—not an unattributed online cost estimate—to plan your budget.
7. A used Corvette deserves a condition-first inspection
For a used car, review its service records and history, then arrange a qualified inspection before purchase. Include tire age and condition in that review, and ask about modifications and prior use. No single checklist can establish the condition of every generation or individual car, and an inspection is only as useful as its scope and findings.

8. Generation and equipment shape the driving experience
Do not assume one Corvette generation’s visibility, entry and exit, storage, ground clearance, or daily comfort represents the rest. Those traits also depend on the individual car’s equipment and condition. Sit in and drive the specific Corvette you are considering, where possible, and judge whether its fit and visibility work for your needs rather than relying on a generic generation-wide verdict.
9. Street and track use are different ownership plans
How you intend to drive the car affects what you need to check and maintain. A track-use plan makes it especially important to consult the exact manual and discuss the car’s condition and service needs with a qualified shop. Do not assume a used Corvette’s modifications or prior use are suitable for your plans; establish what was changed and inspect accordingly.
10. Compare candidate cars on evidence, not just the badge
When choosing among Corvettes, compare like with like and verify the details for each individual car:
- Generation, model year, trim, and equipment
- Mileage, service records, and vehicle history
- Tire age, specification, and condition
- Warranty eligibility and remaining coverage
- Modifications and known use history
- Whether your intended use is primarily street driving or includes track use
These checks help distinguish a well-documented car that fits your needs from one whose costs or condition are still uncertain.
