10 Supercars With More Manageable Maintenance Costs—and What the Estimates Really Mean

Ten supercars have reported maintenance estimates that may look manageable, but the figures use different methods and time horizons. Here’s how to interpret them before buying.

Some supercars have relatively manageable routine-service estimates, but no model on this list is guaranteed to be cheap to own. The figures available for these ten cars come from different sources, cover different time periods and may combine maintenance with repairs. Treat them as rough comparison points—not quotes or a definitive cheapest-to-most-expensive ranking.

How to read these maintenance comparisons

The ten-car shortlist below comes from SlashGear, whose methodology cites RepairPal, CarEdge, Edmunds, Kelley Blue Book, service guides and owner insights. It is an editorial selection, not a standardized head-to-head cost study. The available figures do not use one shared calculation method, and most were not independently verified against the original estimate pages.

Pay attention to what each number measures. A yearly maintenance estimate is not necessarily comparable to a five- or ten-year estimate that includes repairs. None of these figures should be read as covering every ownership expense: tires, brakes, insurance, depreciation and unusually costly failures can change the total substantially. Costs also depend on model year, mileage, condition, service history, driving style, local labor rates, warranty and access to a qualified specialist.

Where SlashGear reports a figure from another provider, it is identified as a reported estimate. The GT-R figures below use CarEdge’s currently reviewed page, which displays a different ten-year estimate than the number SlashGear cited. The differences are a reason to check the provider’s current estimate for the specific car you are considering.

Ten supercars with reported maintenance estimates

Model Reported figure What the figure does—and does not—establish
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C8) CarEdge estimate reported by SlashGear: $3,272 over five years and $9,239 over ten years. These are reported maintenance-and-repair estimates, not a guaranteed bill for a particular C8 Z06. SlashGear points to U.S. GM parts availability as a service-access advantage; that does not ensure low labor or repair costs.
Audi R8 SlashGear reports $1,123 per year from RepairPal and about $976 per year from CarEdge. The providers’ annual figures differ. The underlying estimate pages and dates were not verified, so neither figure should be treated as a settled current cost.
Nissan GT-R (R35) CarEdge displays about $9,230 in maintenance and repairs over the first ten years, including an estimated $3,466 over the first five. CarEdge also reports a 17.94% probability of a major repair during the first ten years. It defines a major repair as costing more than $500 including parts and labor. These are modeled estimates, not a quote for a specific GT-R.
Porsche 911 Turbo (997) SlashGear reports RepairPal annual maintenance of about $1,072. This secondary-reported figure is for the 997-generation 911 Turbo and should not be generalized to other 911 generations or model years.
Aston Martin V8 Vantage SlashGear reports a CarEdge estimate of $19,992 over five years and yearly maintenance near $2,350. The estimates were not independently verified against the underlying page. The annual and five-year figures should not be assumed to cover identical costs.
Dodge Viper SRT-10 SlashGear describes comparatively straightforward service but does not clearly identify the source for its roughly $450 annual figure. Because the estimate’s source is unclear, it is not a reliable basis for budgeting or ranking the Viper against the other cars.
Lamborghini Huracán SlashGear reports annual routine upkeep of $850–$1,500, a five-year total around $21,600 and the possibility of a larger service near year five. These secondary estimates are not tied here to a specific generation or service plan. The annual and five-year figures are not necessarily measuring the same things.
BMW i8 SlashGear reports roughly $979 per year. The source excerpt also describes service intervals, but those should be checked against the owner’s manual for the specific model year before planning work.
Mercedes-Benz AMG GT (C190) SlashGear reports CarEdge estimates of about $5,831 over five years and $16,076 over ten years. The underlying estimate page and date were not verified. These reported totals are not a personalized forecast for an individual car.
Acura NSX SlashGear attributes an average yearly repair cost of $354 to RepairPal. The figure is described as repair cost, not a complete scheduled-maintenance or ownership-cost estimate.

What the GT-R example reveals about service costs

The Nissan GT-R is the clearest example of why a cost figure needs its time horizon and definition. CarEdge currently estimates about $9,230 in maintenance and repairs over the car’s first ten years, with $3,466 estimated over the first five. Its 17.94% major-repair probability is a modeled likelihood over that ten-year period, and “major repair” means a bill exceeding $500 including parts and labor. It is not a prediction that a particular owner will incur that expense.

CarEdge lists oil and filter service every 7,500 miles, along with additional work at milestones that include 30,000 and 60,000 miles. Nissan’s official maintenance schedule entry point asks for a VIN or trim and says recommendations depend on distance driven and operating conditions. Use the car-specific schedule rather than treating a general interval as universal.

What to check before buying one

  • Match the estimate to the exact car. Confirm generation, model year, mileage and service history; a figure for a 997 Turbo does not describe every 911 Turbo.
  • Separate scheduled service from repairs and wear. Ask whether a provider’s estimate includes repairs, and budget separately for high-cost items such as tires, brakes, clutches and suspension work when they are not specified.
  • Use the same time horizon when comparing. A yearly estimate, five-year estimate and ten-year estimate cannot be ranked fairly as if they measure the same period.
  • Check warranty and service access. Dealer or specialist availability, labor rates, parts access and remaining warranty can materially alter what ownership costs you.
  • Get a vehicle-specific inspection and estimate. A pre-purchase inspection by a qualified specialist and a written service estimate for the actual car are more useful for budgeting than a broad model-level average.
