The Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited combined the familiar batwing fairing with a long-haul package of luggage, comfort equipment, and touring technology. It is absent from Harley-Davidson’s listed 2026 Grand American Touring lineup, which names the Street Glide Limited and Road Glide Limited instead. That makes the Ultra Limited a model name and configuration worth remembering—not proof that every rider prefers it or that its successors are worse.
Why the Ultra Limited stands out in retrospect
The Ultra Limited’s appeal is easiest to understand through its equipment: it brought together features intended for extended rides rather than asking buyers to assemble a touring setup from separate options. Harley-Davidson’s 2020 catalog and a dealer’s 2022 model page document several of those features, although equipment can differ by model year.
Here are ten concrete reasons some riders may miss the model. They describe the motorcycle’s documented design and equipment, not a measured consensus among owners.
10 reasons riders may miss the Ultra Limited
1. It was a complete long-distance touring package
A 2022 dealer listing calls the Ultra Limited a “fully-loaded touring experience” and lists comfort, luggage, cruise control, and touring hardware together. That all-in-one approach is a defining part of its character: the bike was presented as ready for extended trips, not simply as a large motorcycle that could be adapted for them. Harley-Davidson’s 2020 catalog likewise groups touring equipment with the model.

2. The Twin-Cooled Milwaukee-Eight 114
The 2022 listing identifies a Twin-Cooled Milwaukee-Eight 114 rated at 114 cubic inches (1,868 cc). Harley-Davidson’s 2020 catalog also lists the 114 for that model year. The engine is part of the Ultra Limited’s specific identity; its presence should not be taken to mean it was the best powertrain for every rider or that later engines are inferior. Harley-Davidson’s 2020 model specifications and the 2022 dealer listing identify the engine.
3. A vented batwing fairing
The Ultra Limited’s batwing fairing gave it a recognizable front profile, while the 2020 catalog specifically describes a vented fairing. That combination of appearance and airflow management is a distinct part of the model’s touring format. How much a fairing helps depends on the rider, conditions, and fit; the cited material does not quantify the Ultra Limited’s aerodynamic performance.

- DIRECT FACOTRY REPLACEMENT: Made to be application specific (where applicable) & designed for easy installation.
- PERFORMANCE ENGINEERED DESIGN: Includes a part number-specific bypass/pressure relief valve and is optimized for use with high-end synthetic motor oils.
4. Heated handgrips for cold-weather comfort
The 2022 listing includes heated handgrips. They are a practical comfort feature when temperatures drop, and one more item integrated into the touring package. Their inclusion is documented for that listing; it should not be generalized to every Ultra Limited model year without checking its specifications.
5. Premium Tour-Pak storage with a rack
The 2022 dealer page lists a Premium Tour-Pak luggage carrier with a rack. Beyond giving the bike its distinctive touring silhouette, this provides a dedicated place for trip belongings. The same listing describes the carrier as helmet-capable, a useful detail for riders planning stops along the way.

6. BOOM! Box GTS infotainment
Harley-Davidson’s 2020 catalog and the 2022 listing both identify BOOM! Box GTS infotainment. Having the system built into the touring motorcycle is part of the Ultra Limited’s self-contained, long-distance design. These sources establish the system’s presence, not its current software support or how it compares with newer infotainment systems.
7. Electronic cruise control
The dealer’s 2022 listing specifies electronic cruise control. On a long highway stretch, cruise control can reduce the need to hold a constant throttle manually. It is a convenience feature, not a substitute for attentive riding or a guarantee of comfort on every route.
Rank #4
- Canvas upper
- Canvas lining
- Rubber outsole
- Vulcanized construction
8. Linked Brembo brakes and standard ABS
The 2022 listing names Reflex linked Brembo brakes with standard ABS. That combination is a meaningful part of the bike’s equipment list, but its presence is not a guarantee against a crash or a claim that braking performance is superior to another model. Riders should consult the correct year’s owner documentation for operation and limitations.
9. A recognizable, purpose-built touring identity
The Ultra Limited brought its batwing fairing, Tour-Pak, touring controls, and comfort features together under one established model name. That identity can matter to riders who want this particular combination and look, even as the lineup evolves. Preference for the Ultra Limited’s style is a matter of taste, not evidence that a successor is objectively worse.

- Long-Lasting Durability: Designed for all-weather motorcycle use, it withstands heavy rain and muddy conditions. The internal coil and connection components are reinforced against vibrations, maintaining stable performance even under continuous shaking and temperature fluctuations for long-term reliability.
10. Its place in the lineup has changed
Harley-Davidson’s 2026 Grand American Touring lineup lists the Street Glide Limited and Road Glide Limited, but not the Ultra Limited. In its January 14, 2026 announcement, the company compares the new Street Glide Limited with the 2024 Ultra Limited. The evidence supports saying the model name is no longer shown in the current listed lineup; it does not establish a formal discontinuation notice or prove that the newer bikes are worse. Harley-Davidson’s 2026 announcement presents the newer models as the current touring choices.

Harley-Davidson names two Limited models in its 2026 Grand American Touring lineup. Their fairing layouts differ, and the manufacturer’s available comparisons use different baselines, so the figures should not be read as a direct head-to-head test.
| 2026 model | What the cited material establishes | How to read the comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Street Glide Limited | Harley-Davidson compares it with the 2024 Ultra Limited and claims an approximately 24-pound (10.9 kg) weight reduction. The company describes a batwing fairing, fairing lowers, and air deflectors. | The weight figure is the manufacturer’s comparison with the 2024 Ultra Limited, not an independent measurement. Harley-Davidson says the fairing combination provides a significant improvement in overall aerodynamic comfort; that is promotional manufacturer language, not an independent test result. |
| Road Glide Limited | Harley-Davidson describes its sharknose fairing as frame-mounted and says this reduces low-speed steering effort compared with a fork-mounted fairing. The company claims a 13-pound (5.9 kg) reduction versus the 2024 Road Glide Limited. | This weight comparison uses the 2024 Road Glide Limited as its baseline, not the Ultra Limited, so it is not directly comparable with the Street Glide Limited figure. |
Harley-Davidson also says its 2026 Milwaukee-Eight VVT 117 produces 7.4% more torque and 14.0% more horsepower than the Twin-Cooled Milwaukee-Eight 114 powertrain in 2024 Grand American Touring models. Those are manufacturer comparisons, not independent test results, and do not by themselves establish which motorcycle a particular rider will prefer. The company’s 2026 announcement is the source for the model comparisons and powertrain figures.
What the evidence can—and cannot—say
The available model materials establish specific equipment and how Harley-Davidson describes its newer Limited motorcycles. They do not establish how many riders will miss the Ultra Limited, whether it was more reliable than a successor, or whether owners generally prefer one generation. Those judgments would require owner or independent evidence not reflected in the cited specifications and announcements.
