The Honda CB1000 Hornet SP makes its strongest case with premium, adjustable suspension and Brembo Stylema front calipers; Honda also publishes a modestly lower US curb weight for the 2025 model. Those are equipment and specification advantages, not proof that it rides, stops or handles better. The Suzuki GSX-S1000 counters with a larger stated fuel tank and a lower US base MSRP for its 2027 model. Which one to choose depends on which trade-offs matter to you.
What makes the Hornet SP appealing?
These ten reasons are buyer-priority arguments grounded in published equipment and specifications. They are not ten proven performance wins: the available figures span different markets and model years, and do not establish a controlled head-to-head result.
1. An Öhlins TTX36 rear shock
Honda lists a Pro-Link rear suspension with an Öhlins TTX36 shock and adjustable settings on the 2025 US CB1000 Hornet SP. That is a concrete draw for a buyer who wants branded premium suspension hardware and the ability to adjust the rear setup. It does not, by itself, establish superior ride or handling. Honda’s 2025 US specifications
2. An adjustable Showa front fork
The SP’s 41 mm Showa SFF-BP fork has adjustable preload, compression and rebound damping, according to Honda. That gives owners several specified ways to alter the fork setup; whether those adjustments suit your riding is a matter to assess on the road and, ideally, with knowledgeable setup advice.

- ODIs proprietary medium compound material provides comfort without sacrificing durability
3. Brembo Stylema front calipers
Honda specifies radial-mount Brembo Stylema four-piston calipers with dual 310 mm floating discs and ABS. This is a clearly identified front-brake package and a reason to favor the Honda if those components matter to you. The published hardware does not establish comparative stopping distances or braking feel.
4. A small published US curb-weight advantage
For the 2025 US models, Honda publishes a ready-to-ride weight of 465 lb, while Suzuki’s 2025 US brochure lists 472 lb curb weight for the GSX-S1000—a seven-pound difference on the published figures. It is a modest paper advantage, not a controlled comparison: the manufacturers’ measurement conventions and included equipment may differ. Suzuki’s 2025 US brochure

5. Honda gives a specific SP power figure for Germany
Honda Deutschland lists the 2025 Hornet SP at 115.6 kW (157 PS) and 107 Nm. That gives buyers in that market a specific official output reference for the SP. It is not a fair basis for declaring the Honda more powerful than the Suzuki: the available US materials identify a 1,000 cc Honda inline-four and a 999 cc Suzuki engine but do not provide equivalent official output figures for the same market and model year. Honda Germany’s 2025 specifications
6. A five-inch TFT with RoadSync
Honda’s US product page lists a five-inch TFT display and RoadSync. The screen and named connectivity feature may suit a buyer who wants those functions in the motorcycle’s interface. The available comparison evidence does not establish that Honda’s electronics package is more capable than Suzuki’s, so treat this as a documented Honda feature—not a comparative electronics win. 7. Quickshifter functionality is part of Honda’s feature story
Honda’s US product page describes quickshifter functionality for the Hornet SP. That makes it worth considering if this feature is on your must-have list. Check the exact equipment and operation on the model offered in your market; the available evidence does not establish a like-for-like Suzuki comparison.
8. The published seat heights match
Both manufacturers list a 31.9-inch seat height for their respective 2025 US models. That makes the specification a neutral starting point rather than a reason the Honda wins. Seat shape, reach to the controls and how the bike feels at a stop are not settled by the number, so sit on both if possible.

9. Honda identifies the SP hardware in a detailed specification
Honda’s specification calls out the SP’s fork, rear shock and brake components individually. That clarity helps a buyer verify the equipment being considered rather than relying on a trim name alone. It is a documentation advantage, not proof that the Honda is better equipped in every respect; compare the exact local model and standard equipment before buying.
10. The SP suits buyers who prioritize its specified chassis components
Taking the adjustable fork, Öhlins shock and Brembo front calipers together, the most defensible reason to choose this Honda is straightforward: those are the components Honda documents for the SP, and they may be more compelling to you than the Suzuki’s practical advantages. That is a preference based on equipment, not a universal verdict about either motorcycle.

Where the Suzuki GSX-S1000 has the clearer specification advantage
Its 2025 US brochure lists a larger fuel tank
Suzuki lists 5.0 US gallons for the 2025 GSX-S1000; Honda lists 4.5 US gallons, including reserve, for the 2025 Hornet SP. The Suzuki has a 0.5-gallon stated-capacity advantage. Tank size alone does not establish real-world range, which also depends on fuel consumption and riding conditions.
Its 2027 US base MSRP is lower than the observed Honda Germany price—but the figures are not comparable
Suzuki announced a $10,798 base MSRP for the 2027 GSX-S1000 in the United States on September 15, 2026. Suzuki says that figure excludes taxes, title, license, registration, destination, dealer fees and optional equipment. Honda Germany lists the 2025 Hornet SP at €11,930 excluding transportation or €12,559 including delivery. These are prices for different countries, model years and price bases; they cannot show which motorcycle costs less in a like-for-like purchase. Check current local pricing for the exact model and fees before deciding. Suzuki’s 2027 US announcement · Honda Germany’s 2025 price listing
Suzuki lists a meter visor as an accessory
Suzuki’s official store lists a meter visor that fits 2025–2026 GSX-S1000 models and describes it as improving wind protection. It is an accessory option, not evidence about stock wind protection or a measured advantage over the Honda. Confirm fitment and availability with the seller for your market. Suzuki meter visor listing
Which one should you choose?
Choose the Hornet SP if its specified adjustable Showa fork, Öhlins rear shock and Brembo front calipers are the equipment you most want, and the small published weight difference is a welcome extra. Choose the GSX-S1000 if its larger stated tank capacity or the price available to you is more important. For either motorcycle, compare the exact local model year, equipment and out-the-door price, then sit on both before treating matching seat-height figures as a fit guarantee.
