10 reasons to consider the Honda Rebel 500
1. Its listed seat height is low
Honda lists a 27.2-inch seat height for the standard model. That is a useful starting point when comparing fit, but it cannot guarantee that you will flat-foot the bike or feel comfortable at a stop. Inseam, footwear, suspension sag and individual proportions all affect reach. Sit on the motorcycle in riding gear before deciding.
2. ABS is listed as standard
Honda specifies front and rear disc brakes with ABS on the 2026 Rebel 500. ABS is a safety feature, not a guarantee against a crash; braking distance and control still depend on conditions, tires, rider input and other factors.

3. It has a 471cc liquid-cooled parallel twin
The standard model’s listed engine is a 471cc liquid-cooled parallel twin four-stroke, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Those specifications establish the basic powertrain, but they do not by themselves establish horsepower, acceleration or how the motorcycle will feel at your preferred speeds. If highway use matters, assess that directly with a qualified test ride where available.
4. The six-speed transmission includes a slipper clutch
Honda includes a slipper clutch and says it provides a 30-percent lighter lever pull. That percentage is Honda’s manufacturer claim, not an independent measurement. Try the clutch yourself if lever effort is important to you.

5. Honda designed a narrow tank-and-seat junction
Honda describes the area where the tank meets the seat as narrow, with the aim of making it easier to mount the bike and reach the ground at stops. Treat that as Honda’s design rationale rather than a measured handling result; your own fit is the deciding factor.
6. The LCD display provides several everyday readouts
Honda says the digital LCD includes a speedometer, gear-position indicator, fuel gauge, clock and tripmeters. Consider whether that information and its presentation are easy for you to read from the riding position.

7. A two-up setup is available as an option
Honda identifies a passenger seat and rear footpegs as bolt-on features, so the standard configuration should not be assumed to include everything needed for a passenger. Confirm year-specific compatibility and the exact parts with a Honda dealer. If you plan to ride two-up, check passenger space and comfort in person rather than assuming the option will suit every trip.
8. Honda lists accessories for different setups

9. The listed curb weight and fuel capacity are specific figures to compare
For the standard 2026 Rebel 500, Honda lists a 414-pound curb weight and a 3.0-gallon fuel capacity. Is the Rebel 500 a good beginner motorcycle?
Its listed seat height and the ability to assess clutch feel and reach make fit checks especially relevant for a newer rider, but the specifications alone cannot determine whether it is a good first motorcycle for you. Consider your training, confidence with a manual transmission, ability to manage the bike while stopped and experience with its weight. Sit on it and, if you are qualified and a suitable ride is available, test ride it before buying.

- Whether you can reach the ground and comfortably manage the bike at a stop.
- Whether the riding posture and controls feel natural to you.
