Contemporary newspaper and television accounts document some purchases, while specific models in other accounts come from a later retrospective. The ten entries below are a selection—not a verified inventory or ranking—and span his rise in the late 1980s into the 1990s, rather than one precisely defined “prime.”
Ten notable cars attributed to Mike Tyson
Each entry identifies what the cited account actually establishes. A named marque is not treated as proof of a particular model, and later model-level claims are labeled as retrospective attributions.

Rolls-Royce Silver Spur
The Washington Post reported that Tyson bought a blue Silver Spur on his 21st birthday in 1987, with a sticker price of $119,500, in its 1988 account. The paper also reported that he spent more than $1 million on automobiles in the 12 months after that first Rolls-Royce purchase. Those are figures reported at the time, not present-day values.

Rolls-Royce Corniche
The same Washington Post report says Tyson bought a white Corniche after the Silver Spur. It separately says he received a Corniche as a gift in 1988, so the account describes both a reported purchase and a gift; it does not establish that they were the same car.

Lamborghini Diablo
In 1993, The Washington Post reported that Tyson finalized the purchase of a Diablo for $264,000 while incarcerated. This is one of the clearest model-and-price claims in contemporary coverage.

Ferrari, model not identified in the CBS account
CBS News reported that Tyson bought a Ferrari for $300,000 in the late 1990s. The feature says he declined a test drive because he already had one like it, but the passage does not identify the model. The reported price does not establish that this was his most expensive car.

Ferrari F50
UOL’s May 2020 retrospective names a Ferrari F50 among Tyson’s cars. This exact-model attribution comes from the later retrospective, not from the contemporary reporting described above.

Ferrari 456 GT Spyder
The same UOL retrospective also attributes a Ferrari 456 GT Spyder to Tyson. Treat this as a secondary account’s model claim, not a documented purchase record established by the contemporary sources here.

Lamborghini Super Diablo Twin Turbo
UOL’s retrospective names this variant. The 1993 Washington Post report establishes a Diablo purchase, but does not identify it as a Super Diablo Twin Turbo.

Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster
UOL also attributes a Diablo VT Roadster to Tyson. As with the Super Diablo Twin Turbo, the precise variant is supplied by the retrospective rather than the 1993 newspaper account.

Bentley Continental
UOL names a Bentley Continental in its retrospective discussion of cars associated with Tyson around the Holyfield fights. The Washington Post’s 1988 fleet coverage names Bentley but gives no model, so it does not independently confirm the Continental identification.

Jaguar XJ220
UOL attributes a Jaguar XJ220 to Tyson. The 1988 Washington Post report includes Jaguar among the marques in his fleet but does not specify a model; the XJ220 detail should therefore remain attributed to UOL’s later retrospective.

What the broader fleet reporting establishes
The Washington Post’s 1988 account listed Bentley, Mercedes, Jaguar, BMW, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Aston Martin Lagonda among Tyson’s cars, without specifying models for those marques. CBS News later reported a 1995 Rolls-Royce, a Range Rover, and a Mercedes-Benz 500 at his Ohio mansion, and included BMW in its account of his stable. These reports support a broad picture of luxury-car ownership, but a fleet list is not a vehicle-by-vehicle ledger.
CBS also said Tyson reportedly bought 110 cars for himself or as gifts over the years. That figure should not be read as 110 personally owned vehicles: the report explicitly includes gifts.
Was one car Tyson’s most expensive?
The available accounts do not establish an overall most-expensive car. They report a $264,000 Lamborghini Diablo purchase in 1993 and a $300,000 Ferrari purchase in the late 1990s, but those two prices alone cannot prove a maximum. They were reported in different years and contexts, and no inflation-adjusted comparison is made here.
How to read claims about Tyson’s car collection
- Contemporary reports: The Washington Post’s 1988 and 1993 accounts support the Silver Spur, Corniche, and Diablo claims, along with broad marque-level fleet reporting.
- Later reporting: CBS News supplies the Ferrari price, cars reported at the Ohio home, and the qualified 110-car figure; its page’s publication date is not established here.
- Retrospective model attributions: UOL’s 2020 article supplies several exact models not identified in the contemporary fleet accounts.
- No ranking: The sources do not support ranking these ten by price, performance, rarity, or personal importance.
Tyson’s spending reputation is captured in a short line CBS attributed to him: “I’m not tight with a dollar.” It is a characterization, not evidence for any particular car or total.
