This list distinguishes Spanish origins from present-day ownership and production: a marque’s history does not, by itself, establish who owns it now or where its motorcycles are built.
How to read this list
“From Spain” here refers to a marque’s Spanish origins, not necessarily to Spanish ownership, independent operation, or current manufacture in Spain. The available corporate histories are not equally detailed for every name, so entries with uncertain present status are identified rather than treated as current Spanish manufacturers.

Active Spanish marques
1. Montesa
Montesa is an active Spanish marque with a close relationship to Honda. Its official history says the production function includes Montesa and Honda trial motorcycles. The Cota is Montesa’s central trials line; the Impala is a notable historic road model. In 2019, Montesa reported that Montesa Honda had produced 1,280,000 motorcycles from 1945 through 2019: 445,000 under the Montesa brand and 835,000 under the Honda brand. Montesa’s official history
2. Rieju
Rieju’s official history traces the Spanish brand’s growth into off-road motorcycles and enduro competition. Marathon is one of its historic lines. Its history makes it a relevant Spanish-origin marque, but does not establish the availability of a particular current model in every market. Rieju’s official history

- Two wheels don't just carry you forward. They remind you who you are. This Chopper motorcycle model captures that feeling—a tribute to the freedom that lives beyond the road.
- Electroplating painted parts reflect more than light. They reflect the soul of classic bikes. It’s the shine that belongs in every garage and every rider’s memory.
- The low frame and tall handlebars say one thing: this motorcycle has attitude. Every curve and angle was shaped for those who ride to stand apart, not blend in.
- Features a V-type engine with moving pistons. Turn the wheels and see the pistons move. In that motion, the spirit of the motorbike comes to life.
- It’s a gift that speaks without words. For those who hear engines like poetry and see chrome as a badge of belief, this is something worth holding onto.
3. GASGAS
GASGAS is included in a directory of Spanish motorcycle brands. That classification alone does not establish its current ownership, whether it operates as an independent Spanish manufacturer, or where its motorcycles are made. Check the company’s current corporate information and the product details for the country where you plan to buy before treating it as a Spanish-built or independently Spanish-owned brand. Historic Spanish marques
4. Derbi
Derbi is a Spanish marque identified in motorcycle brand and manufacturer directories. A brand search result from the manufacturer describes the SRS as its first motorcycle, in 1949. The available evidence here does not establish Derbi’s current operating status or ownership, so it is best understood as a Spanish marque with a significant history rather than assumed to be an active independent manufacturer. 5. Bultaco
Bultaco was founded in Spain in 1958. Its official site recounts the company’s founding and its early Tralla model; a manufacturer list gives its production period as 1958–1983. It is a historic marque, not evidence of a currently operating independent motorcycle manufacturer. Bultaco’s official site Spanish motorcycle brands directory
6. Ossa
Ossa is a historic Spanish motorcycle marque. A manufacturer list records a revival period from 2010 to 2015, but that interval should not be taken as evidence of current production. Spanish motorcycle brands directory

7. Sanglas
Sanglas was a historic Spanish motorcycle marque. A manufacturer list gives its period as 1942–1981, and Montesa’s history says it was absorbed by Yamaha. Its Spanish origin is distinct from its later corporate history. Spanish motorcycle brands directory Montesa’s official history
8. Lube
Lube is listed as a Spanish motorcycle marque with a production period of 1947–1967. It belongs in a history of Spain’s motorcycle industry, not a list of brands assumed to be selling new motorcycles today. Spanish motorcycle brands directory

9. Torrot
Torrot appears in a directory of Spanish motorcycle brands, but the available evidence does not establish its present motorcycle range or company status. Confirm current products and corporate information before describing it as an active motorcycle manufacturer. Spanish motorcycle brands directory
10. Sherco
Sherco appears in the same directory’s Spain grouping, but the available primary-source evidence does not sufficiently confirm its origin or current corporate status. Its inclusion should therefore be treated as a directory classification, not a verified claim that it is an independently Spanish manufacturer. Spanish motorcycle brands directory

What “Spanish motorcycle brand” does—and does not—tell you
Brand origin, present ownership, and manufacturing location are separate facts. Montesa’s history, for example, describes its close production relationship with Honda; that does not make every motorcycle associated with the marque Spanish-owned or establish that every model is built in Spain. For a new-bike purchase, check the current manufacturer information and local dealer listing for the specific model and market. For historic marques, the name’s place in Spanish motorcycle history does not imply new production.
