Honda’s October 30, 2024 specification release calls the Type R transmission a “6-Speed Manual Transmission (6MT) with Rev-Match Control.” Toyota USA Newsroom stated on June 28, 2024: “The 2025 GR Supra is available in two grades: 3.0 and 3.0 Premium, both available with a manual transmission option or an automatic transmission.”

Which 2025 manual car fits your use case?
For the lightest, most direct roadster experience: Mazda MX-5 Miata
The Miata is the only clear two-seat roadster choice on this list, and the RF version gives buyers a retractable-fastback alternative. Choose it when top-down driving, compact dimensions and a simple sports-car layout matter more than extra seats or cargo capacity. Check whether the local car is a soft-top roadster or RF and whether the desired trim includes the manual.

These closely related coupes share the lightweight, rear-drive formula. The practical buying decision is often equipment, dealer availability and each brand’s chassis tuning rather than the basic concept. Compare the actual window stickers and option lists side by side; do not assume the two cars have identical standard equipment.

For a usable performance hatchback: Honda Civic Type R
The Type R is the outlier because it combines a front-drive hatchback body with a factory manual and rev-match control. It makes the most sense for a buyer who needs everyday hatchback utility but still wants a purpose-built performance model. Honda’s cited 2025 specification lists 315 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.
For V8 muscle-car character: Ford Mustang GT or Dark Horse
Ford’s 2025 Mustang range pairs the applicable manual-equipped trims with a 5.0-liter V8. The GT and Dark Horse should be treated as separate configurations: verify that the exact car has the manual transmission, then compare equipment, brakes, suspension and seating options on the window sticker.

For a premium coupe with a manual option: Toyota GR Supra
The manual decision is specific to the six-cylinder 3.0 and 3.0 Premium grades. Toyota’s documentation does not make every Supra configuration manual, so a four-cylinder car or a different grade should never be assumed to have a clutch pedal. Use the VIN, build sheet or dealer order screen to confirm.

For premium performance: Porsche 911 or BMW M2
The 911 offers a manual only in selected variants, so the configurator and final build sheet are essential. The M2 is the smaller, rear-drive performance-coupe alternative. How to compare the cars without misleading assumptions
Start with the drivetrain and body style
Front-drive, rear-drive and rear-engine layouts produce different packaging and driving priorities. Compare practicality honestly
Passenger and cargo needs quickly narrow the field. The Miata is a two-seater; the Type R is a hatchback; the CT4-V Blackwing is a sedan; and the remaining choices are primarily two-door sports cars.
