The Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL tie for the largest maximum cargo capacity in iSeeCars’ 2026 ranking, at 144.5 cubic feet apiece. That maximum is measured with all seats folded; it is not the room available behind the third row when passengers are using it. For family and road-trip decisions, compare both figures where available.
How this cargo-space ranking works
The order follows iSeeCars’ 2026 ranking of large SUVs by maximum cargo space, defined as volume with all seats folded. It is a published specification ranking, not a hands-on cargo test. Manufacturer figures are shown separately where available because seat positions and published measurement details are not necessarily identical across brands.
Maximum volume is useful when you can fold passenger rows to haul bulky items. If you regularly carry people in the third row, the behind-third-row figure is more relevant. The two measurements answer different questions.
10 full-size SUVs ranked by maximum cargo space
- Chevrolet Suburban — iSeeCars lists 144.5 cubic feet. Chevrolet’s 2026 specifications also list 144.5 cubic feet maximum, with 93.8 behind the second row and 41.5 behind the third. iSeeCars ranking; Chevrolet specifications.
- GMC Yukon XL — iSeeCars lists 144.5 cubic feet. GMC’s 2026 figures give the same maximum, with 93.6 behind the second row and 41.5 behind the third. iSeeCars ranking; GMC specifications.

- Ford Expedition MAX — fourth in iSeeCars’ maximum-volume ranking. Ford lists 123.1 cubic feet behind the first row for the 2026 model. With the third row upright, Ford lists 37.4 cubic feet behind it. iSeeCars ranking; Ford specifications.

Maximum cargo space versus room behind the third row
The headline maximum can obscure how much luggage fits while all passenger rows remain usable. The figures below show the distinction for models with relevant manufacturer data. “Maximum” and row-based values are reported as each manufacturer publishes them; they should not be assumed to come from one standardized cross-brand measurement procedure.

The extended versions have a practical advantage when the third row stays in use: GMC lists 41.5 cubic feet behind the Yukon XL’s third row versus 25.5 in the Yukon, while Ford lists 37.4 behind the Expedition MAX’s upright third row versus 22.9 in the standard Expedition with seats fully upright. These are manufacturer-published figures for the named 2026 models.

What the ranking means for buyers
- For maximum hauling capacity: The Suburban and Yukon XL share the top spot in iSeeCars’ list, and their manufacturers both publish a 144.5-cubic-foot maximum.
- For carrying passengers and luggage: Prioritize the behind-third-row number rather than the all-seats-folded maximum. The Suburban and Yukon XL each have 41.5 cubic feet listed there; the standard Yukon’s listed figure is 25.5.
- For a close model comparison: Check the same model year, market, and seat configuration on each manufacturer’s page. In particular, iSeeCars’ Tahoe figure is 125.9 cubic feet while Chevrolet Canada publishes 122.7; the market and source distinction matters.
- For the sixth through tenth places: The ranking establishes their order, but this comparison does not supply matching manufacturer measurements for those models. Do not infer a like-for-like behind-third-row comparison from their positions alone.
