There is no well-supported, apples-to-apples ranking of the ten rarest Ferraris ever made: available sources do not provide verified production totals for ten comparable models. The cars below are a curated group of notably scarce Ferraris, with reported counts identified by scope and source. A model-family total, a particular body style, a competition variant and surviving examples are different measures of rarity.
How to read Ferrari rarity claims
A production figure is meaningful only when it is clear what it counts. Some totals refer to a whole model family; others describe a series or a particular variant. A one-off body does not necessarily make the underlying model a one-off, and a factory-built total does not tell us how many cars survive today.
Ferrari’s official history and chronology establish model identities, dates and selected specifications, but do not publish a complete production-count table. Accordingly, this is a curated list rather than a definitive ranking. Counts below are included only where the cited material supports them; for several models, the available sources establish historical importance but not a comparable total.
Ten notably rare Ferrari models
1. Ferrari 250 GTO
Ferrari’s official history reports 36 250 GTOs, plus three additional examples equipped with a 4.0-litre engine. The wording separates those three from the main total, so they should not be silently folded into a single unqualified count. Ferrari says the car was developed for GT competition and records its victories in the International Championship for GT Manufacturers in 1962, 1963 and 1964. Ferrari’s official 250 GTO history also explains the homologation name: “The letter O in GTO stands for Omologata (approved), but the 100 examples that were then requested were never produced.” The 100 requested cars were not built; that figure is not a production total.

2. Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa
Ferrari’s official chronology dates the 250 Testa Rossa to 1957. The chronology establishes the model’s place in the marque’s history, but does not state a production total. Without a count tied to a clearly defined series or variant, it cannot be ranked numerically against models with documented totals. Ferrari’s official model chronology
3. Ferrari 250 LM
Ferrari dates the 250 LM to 1963. Its official model page describes a rear longitudinal 60-degree V12 with 3,285.72 cc displacement and maximum power of 235 kW (320 hp) at 7,500 rpm, along with a tubular-steel chassis. The page does not state how many were built, so those specifications should not be mistaken for evidence of a particular production count. Ferrari’s official 250 LM history

4. Ferrari 410 Superamerica
A 2024 publication from the Ferrari Club of America’s Southwest Region reports 35 410 Superamericas built between 1952 and 1956. This is a club publication’s reported figure, not a factory count verified in the cited material. The period is part of the report’s claim and should accompany the number when it is repeated. 5. Ferrari 375 America
Ferrari’s official chronology lists the 375 America among its historic models. The chronology confirms the model’s identity, but the material available here does not give a production total. It therefore belongs in a discussion of candidates for a rarity list, not in a count-based ranking without an independently supported figure. Ferrari’s official model chronology

6. Ferrari 410 S
The 410 S also appears in Ferrari’s official historic-model chronology. That listing is useful for identifying the model, but it does not establish how many were built. A precise rarity position would require a production count with a clear definition of what the total includes. Ferrari’s official model chronology
7. Ferrari 250 MM
Ferrari’s chronology lists the 250 MM as a historic model, but does not provide a production figure in the material cited here. The model’s inclusion among notable candidates does not prove that it is rarer than another Ferrari; a fair comparison needs a sourced count defined on the same basis. 8. Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta “Tour de France”
Specialist production compilations identify historic Ferrari models and variants as potential low-production candidates, but their figures can depend on whether a body style or variant is counted separately from its broader family. The material available for this article does not establish a comparable total for this model, so no number or rank is assigned here. Barchetta.cc Ferrari production compilation
9. Ferrari 250 GT SWB
The 250 GT SWB is another candidate in secondary Ferrari production compilations. A figure for a specific body or competition variant cannot be compared directly with a whole-family total unless the difference in scope is made explicit. The cited material does not establish a count on a basis comparable to the documented totals above. Barchetta.cc Ferrari production compilation

10. Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder
Secondary production compilations include the 250 GT California Spyder among historic Ferrari models for which low-production claims may be made. The material available here does not verify a total under a definition comparable with the 250 GTO or 410 Superamerica figures, so it is listed as a candidate rather than assigned a precise rank. Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What can be stated with confidence?
- Ferrari’s official account reports 36 250 GTOs, separately noting three additional 4.0-litre examples.
- A Ferrari Club of America regional publication reports 35 410 Superamericas built from 1952 to 1956; this is a secondary-source figure.
- Ferrari’s official chronology dates the 250 Testa Rossa to 1957, the 250 GTO to 1962 and the 250 LM to 1963, but the cited chronology does not supply production totals.
- Ferrari’s 250 LM history supplies technical specifications, not a build count.
These facts support a list of rare and historically significant Ferraris, but not a precise top ten sorted by production. Establishing that order would require reliable totals for each entry, consistent treatment of model families and variants, and clarity about whether special bodies, conversions or surviving cars are being counted.
