For 2025, several familiar cars and SUVs get a visual reset without becoming completely new vehicles. The changes range from narrower headlights and revised grilles to full lighting redesigns, new bumpers, and more distinctive front fascias. In most cases, these are mid-cycle refreshes rather than clean-sheet redesigns.
Here are 10 U.S.-market vehicles whose 2025 model-year updates give them a noticeably different face.
1. 2025 Volkswagen Jetta
Volkswagen gives the 2025 Jetta a sharper front end while keeping the sedan’s basic shape and familiar powertrain layout. The most obvious changes are narrower headlights and a thinner upper grille, which make the nose look lower and wider.
Upper trims add an illuminated grille light bar, a feature that visually links the Jetta to newer Volkswagen models. The rear receives a matching full-width light bar, so the refresh is not limited to the front bumper. 2. 2025 Volkswagen Taos
The subcompact Taos gets a more substantial front-end revision than the Jetta. Volkswagen redesigned the grille and bumper and made LED projector headlights standard across the lineup. An available front light bar adds another layer of visual separation on better-equipped versions.
The mechanical update is also relevant. Every 2025 Taos uses an updated 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. That means the new face arrives alongside a change to the powertrain specification, rather than being only a cosmetic trim-year adjustment.
For buyers comparing small SUVs, standard LED projector headlights are one of the most useful changes because they avoid making upgraded lighting dependent on an expensive appearance package.
3. 2025 Audi A3
Audi’s compact A3 sedan receives a mid-cycle styling update centered on a wider, flatter frameless Singleframe grille. The side intakes are larger and more angular, while a new front spoiler and thinner headlight graphics give the car a more technical appearance.
One of the more unusual changes is the ability to select different daytime-running-light signatures through the car’s MMI infotainment system. The lighting pattern can therefore be changed electronically rather than being fixed for the life of the vehicle.
For the U.S. market, the 2025 A3 family update applies to the A3 quattro and S3 sedans. Audi’s broader global A3 material covers body styles and equipment that are not necessarily sold in the United States, so shoppers should check the U.S. specification rather than assume every European-market feature is available here.
4. 2025 BMW i4
The electric BMW i4 adopts revised styling shared with the updated 4 Series family. Its slim headlights sit above a revised vertically oriented kidney grille, whose upper section is enclosed rather than serving as a conventional engine-air opening.
BMW also updated the front-apron detailing. Optional adaptive headlights bring new BMW lighting graphics, while laser-accented taillights are available at the rear. The result is a more deliberately electric-looking front end without abandoning the i4’s close visual relationship to the gasoline-powered 4 Series Gran Coupe.

These changes are model-year updates, even though BMW announced them in April 2024 and began production in July 2024. In other words, “new for 2025” describes the U.S. model year, not the date the design was first revealed.
5. 2025 BMW 4 Series
The 2025 BMW 4 Series Coupe, Convertible, and Gran Coupe receive the same broad visual treatment as the i4. Revised headlights, a restyled kidney-grille surround, updated front intakes, and new lighting details make the cars easier to distinguish from earlier 4 Series models.
The styling revision is accompanied by a technical change on the 430i and M440i: both gain 48-volt mild-hybrid systems. That system is separate from the appearance changes, but it makes the 2025 cars more than a simple bumper-and-lighting refresh.

Because the 4 Series is sold in several body styles and powertrain configurations, the exact grille, lighting, and lower-fascia treatment can vary. Buyers comparing a 2024 car with a 2025 model should look at the specific body style and trim rather than relying on photos of a different 4 Series version.
6. 2025 Lincoln Aviator
Lincoln substantially reworks the Aviator’s visual identity for 2025. The SUV receives a refreshed grille, new LED headlamps, a revised hood, and a redesigned front fascia. An illuminated Lincoln star is integrated into the grille, giving the front end a prominent signature at night.
The lighting is part of Lincoln’s Embrace welcome sequence. The front lamps can perform a sequential animation as the vehicle is approached or unlocked, adding a presentation-focused detail that is common on luxury vehicles but less usual on mainstream SUVs.

7. 2025 Ford Maverick
Ford refreshes the compact Maverick pickup with a revised grille, front bumper, and LED headlamps. The redesigned front lighting is standard for the 2025 model, so the updated look is not restricted to an upper trim or appearance package.

The 2025 Maverick also gains additional driver-assistance and towing features. Those changes matter because the Maverick is often purchased as a practical truck rather than as a style-focused vehicle. The new front end is therefore only one part of the model-year update.
Ford’s small pickup retains the basic Maverick formula: compact dimensions, a useful bed, and a choice of hybrid and gasoline-powered configurations. The refreshed nose helps it look less like an unchanged carryover while preserving the truck’s compact footprint.
8. 2025 Ford Explorer
The 2025 Explorer receives revisions across nearly every visible part of its front end. Ford changes the front fascia, lower fascia, grille, headlamps, fog-lamp architecture, and skid-plate elements. These details vary the appearance of the SUV more significantly than a grille-only update would.
The changes continue at the back, where Ford revises the liftgate and taillamps and adds an integrated light-bar design. That front-and-rear treatment gives the Explorer a more cohesive lighting signature for the new model year.

Since the Explorer is available in multiple trims, buyers should pay attention to the lower bumper and skid-plate treatment as well as the headlights. Two 2025 Explorers can have noticeably different faces depending on equipment and trim level.
9. 2025 Kia K5
Kia updates the K5 sedan with its latest “Star Map” lighting theme. The new daytime-running lights are joined by amber positioning lights, a revised front fascia, and a redesigned lower grille.

The 2025 Kia Carnival receives one of the more conspicuous styling updates on this list. Its front end adopts Kia’s newer design language with a taller, more sculptural grille, cube-like headlamps, and amber Star Map daytime-running lights.
