The same model-year specifications list a six-speed transmission and an Assist & Slipper clutch. They describe a specific mechanical package, but do not provide a top-speed test result.

Yamaha’s wording is: “The new R7 blends Yamaha’s acclaimed 689cc CP2 engine with advanced R1-derived technology, including a 6-axis IMU, YCC-T throttle and YRC riding modes.” That description applies to 2026 product material; it should not be assigned retrospectively to a 2023 or 2025 R7.

Yamaha calls the R7 a supersport, and its official specifications support concrete observations about its engine, weight, seat height, and equipment. A single maximum-speed figure cannot settle whether the bike is a supersport in every meaningful sense, nor can it establish handling, track pace, acceleration, ergonomics, or the character of supersports as a whole.
