Yamaha Motor Pakistan (Private) Limited has discontinued motorcycle manufacturing in Pakistan. The company announced the decision on September 9, 2025, citing a change in business policy. It also said that after-sales service, spare parts supply through authorized dealers, and warranty services under the existing scheme would continue. The halt concerns production, not an immediate end to support for motorcycles already on the road. The reporting we could confirm dates from September 2025, and it does not establish what has changed since, so anyone buying or servicing a Yamaha motorcycle in Pakistan today should confirm current status with an authorized dealer.
What Yamaha announced
The announcement was a short notice on the company’s channels. The statement reproduced by ProPakistani reads: “Due to a change in our business policy, we would like to inform you that we will discontinue manufacturing of motorcycles. We sincerely appreciate your long-standing support and loyalty.” The company did not set a date for the final production run in that statement, and no named executive has been quoted explaining the internal commercial decision.
What the company committed to
Alongside the production notice, Yamaha Motor Pakistan made three commitments:
- After-sales service would continue.
- Spare parts would be supplied through authorized dealers.
- Warranty services would be honored under the existing scheme.
A later social post from the company’s official Pakistan account put the same promise in brand language: “Our promise to you continues; from after sales service and providing spare parts to customers, Yamaha will remain by your side, because your trust has always been the voice that said; Dil Nay Kaha Yamaha.” The post does not name an individual speaker.

These commitments carry no stated duration. Nothing in the announcement or the post says how many years parts will be stocked, and neither establishes how much inventory any dealer holds today. The commitments describe intent at the time of announcement, so they should be verified case by case rather than treated as a guarantee.
Production history in figures
Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.’s Fact Book 2025 lists 2015 as the year the motorcycle manufacturing and sales company, YMPK, began operations in Pakistan. Dawn reported that local assembly started in fiscal year 2016 (FY16). The figures below are Dawn’s historical numbers for Yamaha’s Pakistan operation. They are not a current forecast, and they are not a measure of current output.

The gap between FY19 and FY25 is the clearest measure of the decline. Sales in FY25 were still higher than production, which suggests the company was drawing down stock during its final assembly period. Dawn’s report does not break this down further.

The official reason
Yamaha’s only stated reason is a change in business policy. That is the explanation to quote. Any other cause should be presented as reporting or analysis, not as the company’s position.

Dawn’s report, which is separate from the company’s own explanation, describes conditions that may have shaped the decision:
- Competition from Honda, Suzuki, and Chinese assemblers.
- Weaker affordability and demand in the lower-priced motorcycle segment.
- Higher costs tied to imported parts and limited local content, according to an unnamed vendor quoted in the report.
At the time of reporting, Yamaha’s lineup comprised four models priced from Rs429,500 to Rs493,500. Those prices are as reported in September 2025 and are not current list prices. These points explain the market pressure but do not prove why Yamaha made its decision.

- Confirm your dealer is still authorized. Ask Yamaha Motor Pakistan or your dealer to verify the dealer’s status before relying on its parts or service promises.
- Check warranty status. Keep your purchase invoice and registration papers, and ask the dealer whether the warranty remains valid for your specific motorcycle.
- Ask about parts availability before you need them. Request the part number and ask whether it is in stock or needs to be ordered, and how long delivery takes.
- Verify the exact model year and variant. Parts can differ between years and variants of the same model, so match them to your frame or engine number, not just the model name.
- Plan for service intervals. If your dealer cannot supply a part, ask for an alternative and written confirmation of what is compatible.
