XPENG AEROHT rebranded as ARIDGE in October 2025 and separately unveiled the A868, a six-seat hybrid-electric eVTOL aircraft. XPENG lists a 500 km estimated range and a 360 km/h maximum cruising speed, but those are development targets—not independently demonstrated performance. The company says the A868 has entered flight validation; the available sources do not establish certification or commercial passenger service.
What is ARIDGE?
XPENG AEROHT announced its new identity, ARIDGE, at an event in Dubai on October 12, 2025. The company says the name combines “Air” and “Bridge,” reflecting its stated aim of connecting sky and earth. The rebrand is the identity change; it does not mean that every aircraft in the company’s program is the same vehicle.
One of those aircraft is the A868, introduced as a distinct multi-passenger flying vehicle. ARIDGE also develops the Land Aircraft Carrier, a modular ground vehicle paired with a detachable eVTOL aircraft module. The A868 is not that detachable aircraft module.
What kind of aircraft is the A868?
XPENG describes the A868 as a hybrid-electric eVTOL with a full-tiltrotor configuration and a six-seat cabin. “eVTOL” means electric vertical takeoff and landing; in this case, the company’s hybrid-electric description distinguishes it from an aircraft presented as battery-electric only. The announcement says the aircraft “adopts a full tilt-rotor configuration.”

That description identifies the intended architecture, not a complete engineering specification. The company materials cited here do not provide enough detail to establish how the A868’s propulsion system works in operation, or to compare its design quantitatively with another manufacturer’s aircraft.
How far and how fast is it expected to fly?

XPENG gave the range and speed figures in its 2025 announcement, and its 2025 ESG filing, published in 2026, also reports them. Neither source makes these figures independent test results. They should be read as published specifications or estimates for a developing aircraft, not as a record of routine flights.

What does “Joby-like” mean here?
“Joby-like” is a comparison in the headline, not evidence that the A868 is technically equivalent to an aircraft from Joby Aviation or that the companies have a relationship. The available materials do not substantiate either claim. A meaningful comparison would require sourced details about each aircraft’s propulsion architecture, rotor and wing configuration, passenger capacity, performance, certification stage and intended operating model; the cited materials do not supply a like-for-like comparison.

XPENG’s 2025 ESG filing reports that the A868 had entered flight validation. That indicates a development stage, but the cited materials do not establish that the aircraft is certified, carrying commercial passengers or available to buy. They also do not establish a specific certification or production timeline after the aircraft’s November 2025 debut, so no delivery date can be inferred from the announced targets or validation status.
