Official sources do not confirm that Tesla sells its Powerwall home battery or Solar Roof through Home Depot. Home Depot said it offered solar-panel and home-battery sales and installation services in its U.S. stores in 2024, but its report did not identify Tesla as a supplier. That leaves local or future availability unverified—not ruled out.
What Home Depot’s announcement confirms
In its FY24 report, Home Depot said: “In 2024, The Home Depot offered solar panel and home battery storage sales and installation services in our stores.” The retailer also reported that approximately 3,800 U.S. customers purchased solar systems there that year. The figures describe Home Depot’s 2024 activity, not a current store-by-store product listing. Solar accounted for 66% of new electricity-generating capacity added to the U.S. grid in 2024, and nearly 50 gigawatts (GWdc) of U.S. solar capacity was installed that year, a 21% increase from 2023, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association as reported by Home Depot. Why the Tesla rooftop connection is different
Home Depot has also described a commercial rooftop-solar project involving Tesla. Its announcement concerned leasing store roof space for solar generation under power-purchase agreements with Current and Tesla. What Home Depot’s older solar-partner news says
In 2019, Home Depot announced an expanded relationship with Sunrun and the addition of Vivint Solar for residential solar consultations in stores. The announcement said Sunrun’s presence was planned to grow to nearly 700 stores. Tesla’s support information directs customers to certified installers in areas where Tesla does not install directly. For a purchase, check Tesla’s current ordering and installer information for your location rather than assuming a nearby Home Depot offers Tesla products. Tesla Solar Roof support

Solar Roof is a solar product that generates electricity. Powerwall is a home battery that stores energy for later use. They are separate product categories, and one does not replace the other: a battery stores electricity, while a solar system produces it. How to check whether a local offering includes Tesla
- Check the local Home Depot listing or ask the store. Confirm whether solar and battery services are currently offered in your area and whether Tesla is explicitly named as the supplier. The 2024 company report does not identify a Tesla product offering.
- Check Tesla’s current local options. Review Tesla’s product ordering and certified-installer information for your address, including whether Tesla or an installer handles the work.
- Separate the product from the installer. Ask who supplies the equipment, who sells the system, who installs it, and who provides service. A retailer offering solar or battery installation does not, by itself, mean it offers Tesla equipment.
As of October 8, 2026, the official sources cited here do not verify a Tesla–Home Depot consumer retail arrangement. They also do not establish whether a local or future arrangement exists.
