The 2026 Husqvarna 701 Enduro pairs a claimed 79 PS from a 692.7 cm³ single with 21/18-inch wheels and long-travel suspension. That combination makes it a striking road-legal option for riders who want serious off-road dimensions without giving up road equipment. “Forgotten” is a provocative description, not an established measure of its popularity: the case for the 701 is its unusual specification, and the compromises that come with it.
What makes the 701 Enduro stand out?
Many motorcycles sit between road and trail, but the 701 Enduro’s published figures lean decisively toward dirt: a 21-inch front wheel, an 18-inch rear, 265 mm of front suspension travel and 250 mm at the rear. Husqvarna lists 265 mm of ground clearance, too. Those dimensions describe a chassis intended to handle rough terrain, not simply a road bike with styling cues.
At the same time, this is a large-displacement, liquid-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder motorcycle with a six-speed transmission. Husqvarna’s 2026 UK model page claims 79 PS (58.1 kW) and 73 Nm. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent dyno measurements. The combination of a high-output single and dirt-oriented chassis is the heart of the 701’s “beast” reputation; it does not, by itself, establish how the bike feels or performs in a particular rider’s hands.

What changed for the 2026 model?
Husqvarna’s 2025 announcement for the 2026 model describes a substantial update on paper. It says the redesigned engine raises claimed output from 74 PS to 79 PS and meets Euro 5+ requirements. The announcement also identifies revisions to the chassis, bodywork, fuel pump, exhaust and electronics, alongside a 4.2-inch TFT display. These are the manufacturer’s descriptions of the new model, rather than independent comparative test results.
The announced electronics include cornering traction control (MTC) and cornering ABS. Husqvarna says Rally Mode is optional and unlocks Dynamic Slip Adjust, Motor Slip Regulation and a Slip Adjuster; ABS can be disengaged on the Enduro. Standard-versus-optional equipment may differ by market, so confirm the specification of the exact bike rather than assuming every listed function is included.

Capability comes with real fit and weight trade-offs
The 935 mm seat height is a significant consideration, especially when stopping on uneven ground or maneuvering at walking pace. Husqvarna lists 152 kg without fuel, not a ready-to-ride weight. The figure signals that the bike is not a lightweight trail machine, while the tall seat and long-travel chassis may make low-speed technical riding more demanding for some riders. A rider’s height, inseam, experience and terrain all matter; a specification sheet cannot settle the fit question.
The 13.5-litre tank gives a capacity figure, not a dependable range estimate. No independently measured range is established here, and actual distance will depend on conditions and riding style. For a planned mix of trail and road use, consider the longest stretches between fuel stops and assess the bike in person if possible.

Service intervals and warranty depend on the market
Husqvarna Mobility’s 2025 announcement for the 2026 model states oil changes every 15,000 km and valve-clearance checks every 30,000 km. Those are the intervals announced by the manufacturer; confirm the applicable market’s current owner’s manual and service plan before budgeting or scheduling maintenance. Husqvarna’s UK page describes up to four years of Premium Manufacturer’s Warranty for street models from MY2025, conditional on scheduled servicing at an authorized dealer. Eligibility and terms are regional, so consult the local warranty document.
Price and availability: check your country
The launch figures reported for the 2026 model are market-specific, not interchangeable transaction prices. Husqvarna’s UK announcement listed £10,499, while Cycle News reported a US MSRP of $13,399. The former is a UK announced price and the latter a US manufacturer’s suggested retail price reported by a secondary source; taxes, fees, dealer pricing and timing can differ. Check a local dealer for the current price and availability.

Is the 701 Enduro right for you?
It makes the most sense for a rider who values a road-legal single with genuine off-road wheel sizes, substantial suspension travel and electronic aids, and who has the stature and skill to manage a tall, substantial motorcycle. It is a less obvious fit if your riding is dominated by tight, slow trails, you need an easy reach to the ground, or your priority is a lower-mass machine. Those are practical trade-offs to evaluate, not judgments that can be resolved by output figures alone.
- Consider it if: your routes include open dirt and rough roads, you want a high-output single, and you can comfortably manage the seat height.
- Look closely at alternatives if: low-speed technical terrain is your main use, a lower seat is essential, or you need independently verified range and ready-to-ride weight figures before deciding.
- Compare like with like: use the same model year and market, and compare ready-to-ride weight, ergonomics, fuel capacity and measured range, suspension, wheel setup, electronic modes, service intervals and road comfort.
Buying a used 701 Enduro
Do not assume every model year has the same engine output, electronics, service schedule or parts fitment. The 2026 update changes several of those areas, while Husqvarna’s owner manual says specifications are non-binding and may vary by market. The manual reviewed applies to 701 Enduro EU variants F2603Z1 and F2603Z2, so it should not be treated as the universal reference for every region or year.

- Match the VIN to the motorcycle’s model year and market, then consult the corresponding local owner’s manual.
- Check service records against that manual’s schedule, including evidence of oil changes and valve-clearance checks where due.
- Check the VIN for applicable recalls and confirm that any replacement parts or accessories fit that exact year and market.
- Assess the riding position and low-speed handling yourself where possible; a published seat height and dry-weight figure cannot predict your comfort or control.
For a replacement air filter or other service part, verify year- and market-specific fitment before ordering. Husqvarna identifies the air filter as part of the revised airbox but does not establish a universal part number for every 701 Enduro.
