In the first half of 2026, it sold 46,507 hybrids, nearly 1.9 times the F-150 Hybrid’s 24,596. Its appeal is straightforward: a starting price around $28,000, up to 38 mpg combined in front-wheel-drive form, and the utility of a pickup bed. Those strengths come with a clear trade-off: towing and payload are modest compared with full-size trucks.
How many Maverick Hybrids is Ford selling?
Ford reported a record 29,457 Maverick Hybrid sales in the second quarter of 2026, up 19.3% year over year. First-half sales reached a record 46,507. The F-150 Hybrid, Ford’s full-size hybrid pickup, sold 24,596 through June, so the Maverick Hybrid’s first-half total was about 1.9 times as high. Ford identifies the Maverick Hybrid as America’s best-selling hybrid pickup in its Q2 2026 sales release.
That result stands out against the wider Maverick lineup: all powertrains combined, the truck sold 47,850 units in Q2, down 0.4%, and 81,711 in the first half, down 5.0%, according to a Maverick Truck Club summary of Ford sales data. The hybrid’s growth while overall Maverick sales were nearly flat indicates that the powertrain is taking a larger share of the model’s sales.
Why the Maverick Hybrid is so popular
It starts at a comparatively accessible price
The 2026 Maverick XL Hybrid is listed at about $28,145 before destination, and the XLT Hybrid at $30,645. The range reaches $41,425 for loaded trims, according to Edmunds and Cars.com. That puts a hybrid pickup within reach at a price point well below the full-size-truck class. Actual transaction prices can vary with destination charges, options, dealer pricing and incentives, so confirm the current out-the-door price with a dealer.

Fuel economy is closer to a car’s than a conventional pickup’s
The hybrid pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for 191 horsepower and a CVT-type automatic transmission. Edmunds, citing EPA figures, lists the front-wheel-drive model at 42 mpg city, 35 highway and 38 combined; AWD versions are rated at 37 mpg combined. Edmunds also reports that its own testing regularly returned more than 40 mpg combined, but that is an outlet’s test result, not an EPA rating. Mileage varies with configuration, driving conditions and use.
It fits buyers who need a bed more than heavy-truck capability
The Maverick gives owners an open cargo bed and pickup versatility without requiring them to buy a larger truck. That can suit daily driving, home projects and occasional hauling. Its limits matter, though: the maximum tow rating is 4,000 pounds with the available tow package, while the base rating is 2,000 pounds; maximum payload is 1,500 pounds. These specifications are listed by Edmunds. Buyers should check the rating for their exact configuration and account for passengers and cargo when towing.

The sales comparison is not a like-for-like contest between identical trucks. The Maverick is the more compact, lower-priced option; the F-150 is a full-size pickup aimed at buyers who need more truck. Ford describes the F-150 Hybrid as its best-selling full-size hybrid pickup, while calling the Maverick Hybrid its best-selling hybrid pickup overall. The first-half 2026 sales totals show the Maverick’s broader appeal among hybrid pickup buyers, not that it replaces the F-150 for heavy-duty work.

Is the Maverick Hybrid the right pickup for you?
It is a strong fit if your priorities are a relatively low entry price, fuel economy and an everyday-use bed, and your towing needs fall within the truck’s ratings. It is a poorer match if your regular work requires more towing or payload than the Maverick provides. Compare the rating on the specific truck you intend to buy rather than relying on the maximum figure for the model line.
