March 2025 reports said some Cybertruck deliveries were delayed over a possible problem with the cantrail, the trim assembly that runs along the roofline. Tesla had not publicly confirmed a delivery stop when those reports appeared. Tesla later announced a voluntary recall for certain 2024 and 2025 Cybertrucks because a cantrail panel could separate at its adhesive joint. The reported delivery hold is historical; it should not be read as evidence that deliveries remain stopped today.
What was reportedly stopping Cybertruck deliveries?
On March 13, 2025, Electrek reported that buyers had received postponed delivery appointments and that some had been told by delivery specialists there was a “containment hold.” The outlet cited eight buyers reporting delays on a Cybertruck owners’ forum, along with additional social-media reports. One buyer’s service-app screenshot reportedly linked the concern to the cantrail trim. These were buyer accounts and a screenshot, not a public Tesla announcement of a delivery stop. Electrek’s March 13 report
Road & Track reported on March 14 that some scheduled deliveries were being held for inspection. It also described an owner-forum screenshot suggesting a cantrail concern and noted that Tesla had not announced a formal stop sale or recall as of that report. The article included Cybertruck owner Reid Tomasko’s anecdotal account of seeing the issue on several trucks at his wrapping business; that observation is not a measure of how common the problem was. What is a Cybertruck cantrail?
The cantrail is the trim assembly along the vehicle’s roofline. Tesla’s recall information says the assembly includes a stainless-steel panel that may delaminate at its adhesive joint and separate from the vehicle. That documented failure mode is what connects the early delivery-delay reports to Tesla’s later recall—not a confirmed finding that every Cybertruck, or every vehicle delayed in March, had a loose panel.

What did Tesla’s recall say?
Tesla’s official recall support page covers certain model year 2024 and 2025 Cybertrucks manufactured from November 13, 2023, through February 27, 2025. Tesla warns that if a cantrail panel separates while the vehicle is in Drive, “it could create a road hazard for following motorists and increase the risk of injury or a collision.” Tesla’s Cybertruck cantrail recall information
Electrek reported on March 20, 2025, that the recall population was 46,096 Cybertrucks. That is the reported number of vehicles in the recall population, not a count of confirmed panel detachments or injuries. Electrek’s March 20 recall report

How to check whether your Cybertruck is affected
The model year and production-date range are useful context, but they do not determine an individual vehicle’s eligibility. Check the vehicle identification number (VIN) using Tesla’s VIN Recall Search or the NHTSA VIN Recall Search, and follow Tesla’s instructions if the vehicle is listed. Tesla provides the recall details and owner guidance on its cantrail replacement page.
Can you keep driving an affected Cybertruck?
Tesla says affected owners may continue driving and that it will contact them to schedule service when parts are available in their region. Because Tesla identifies a potential road hazard if the panel separates while driving, verify your VIN and follow the company’s current guidance rather than assuming the risk does not apply to your vehicle.

What is the recall remedy?
Tesla’s stated remedy is a replacement cantrail assembly that meets its durability testing requirements, provided at no charge. The company estimates the replacement will take approximately one hour. Tesla says scheduling depends on parts availability in the owner’s region; use Tesla’s recall page and service channels for vehicle-specific next steps. The official remedy is a replacement through Tesla, not an owner-applied adhesive repair.
