JLR’s sales fell sharply in FY26, but its own reporting attributes the decline to several pressures—not to the F-PACE alone. The company says it wound down outgoing Jaguar models ahead of a new Jaguar launch, and that F-PACE production at Solihull ended in 2025. The available official figures are for JLR as a group, so they do not establish that the F-PACE’s sales made Jaguar’s wider struggles worse—or what “sluggish” means in the headline.
What happened to JLR’s sales?
JLR reported 307,900 wholesales in FY26, down 23.2% year on year, and 352,300 retail sales, down 17.8%. These are group-wide totals, not Jaguar-only results. Wholesales and retail sales are distinct measures and should not be read as counts of the same transactions. JLR’s release describes the figures as rounded and provisional.
The company identified several pressures on the full-year result: US tariffs, challenges in China, the planned wind-down of legacy Jaguar models ahead of a new Jaguar launch, and production stoppages following a cyber incident. Its FY26 release reported that Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Defender together made up 76.5% of full-year wholesales, another group-level measure.
How did the cyber incident affect production?
JLR said the cyber incident disrupted production across two fiscal quarters. In its 7 October 2025 Q2 FY26 release, CEO Adrian Mardell said: “From the start of September, we have been responding to a cyber incident, which shut down our production.” JLR reported Q2 wholesales of 66,165, down 24.2% year on year, and retail sales of 85,495, down 17.1%.

In its 5 January 2026 Q3 release, JLR reported 59,200 wholesales, down 43.3% year on year, and 79,600 retail sales, down 25.1%. The company said production returned to normal levels only by mid-November; it also cited the Jaguar wind-down and US tariffs as factors affecting the quarter.
Did JLR’s sales recover in Q4 FY26?
They improved sequentially as production normalized, but remained below the year-earlier quarter. JLR reported Q4 FY26 wholesales of 95,300, up 61.1% quarter on quarter and down 14.5% year on year. Retail sales were 92,700, up 16.2% quarter on quarter and down 14.3% year on year. The company describes these release figures as rounded and provisional. FY26 quarterly figures refer to JLR’s fiscal quarters, not calendar quarters.

Is Jaguar still making the F-PACE?
JLR’s annual report says F-PACE production at Solihull concluded in 2025. It also records the end of production for E-PACE and, in China, XEL and XFL. The company describes 2025 as the final chapter for its outgoing Jaguar models, with the range being wound down ahead of a new Jaguar launch.
JLR presents Type 00 as a design-vision concept and discusses an upcoming first new Jaguar production car. That describes a transition in the brand’s lineup; it does not establish when any particular new model will be available or what will happen to F-PACE inventory in every market. The production end date alone also does not show how many F-PACE vehicles were sold or how the model performed against competitors.

What does “sluggish SUV” mean in this headline?
The official JLR materials reviewed here do not identify a particular F-PACE sales result as the cause of Jaguar’s or JLR’s difficulties. Nor do they establish that “sluggish” refers to the F-PACE’s acceleration or driving performance. The headline’s wording is therefore not evidence of a specific performance test, sales figure or confirmed model-level cause.
The supported conclusion is narrower: JLR’s group-wide FY26 results weakened amid a combination of market conditions, tariffs, a planned Jaguar model transition and cyber-related production interruptions. F-PACE production ended as part of that transition, but the available company figures do not isolate its contribution to the decline.
