A used Suzuki M109R can be a compelling cruiser buy if its condition, price, and heft suit you. The 2025 model’s U.S. base MSRP is $15,799 before taxes, registration, destination, dealer fees, or options, while JD Power’s guide lists $10,625 average retail for a 2020 B.O.S.S. and $4,915 for a 2012 M109R. Those guide figures are not records of completed sales, and they do not establish a nationwide going rate. The bargain is in the particular bike and its total cost—not a promise that every M109R is cheap.
What makes the M109R a distinctive cruiser?
The Boulevard M109R is a large-displacement muscle cruiser built around a 1783cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 54-degree V-twin with fuel injection. Suzuki lists a wet multi-plate clutch, five-speed constant-mesh transmission, and shaft final drive for the 2025 U.S. model.
The 2025 specification pairs a 705 mm (27.8 in.) seat height with a 347 kg (764 lb.) curb weight. That is a low seat on a substantial motorcycle: reaching the ground may be easier for some riders, but the low seat does not make the bike light to maneuver. Its 1710 mm (67.3 in.) wheelbase and 130 mm (5.1 in.) ground clearance are further useful context when assessing fit.
Suzuki lists a 19.5 L (5.2 U.S. gal.) fuel tank for the 2025 model, or 18.5 L (4.9 U.S. gal.) for the California model. The listed tubeless tires are 130/70R18 front and 240/40R18 rear. Verify sizes, ratings, and fitment for the exact year before ordering tires; the 2025 specification should not be assumed to cover older bikes.

Is a used Suzuki M109R worth it?
It can be, if you want a big, shaft-driven cruiser and find an example with a sound title, convincing maintenance history, and a price that leaves room for immediate needs. A used bike may cost substantially less than the current new-bike MSRP, but age, condition, mileage, modifications, and local supply all affect whether a particular listing is good value.
The shaft drive avoids routine chain lubrication and adjustment; it does not make the motorcycle maintenance-free. Use the owner’s manual and service schedule for the bike’s model year. Suzuki advises owners to study the manual and inspect the motorcycle before riding.

How to decide whether an asking price is fair
Start with the full cost, not the advertised number. Suzuki’s 2025 U.S. base MSRP is $15,799, excluding taxes, title, license, registration, destination freight, dealer fees, and optional equipment. A used-bike comparison should likewise account for applicable taxes and fees, plus any maintenance, repairs, or tires needed soon after purchase.
- Compare like with like: Use year-specific valuation references as a starting point, then compare current local listings with similar year, condition, and equipment. Guide values are not transaction guarantees.
- Assess the individual bike: Review title status, service records, storage history, signs of damage, and modifications. Mileage alone does not establish condition; ask what maintenance is documented and check the correct year’s manual schedule.
- Budget for consumables: Inspect tire tread, age, and condition, and confirm sizes against the exact model-year specification. Suzuki’s listed 2025 sizes are 130/70R18 front and 240/40R18 rear.
- Calculate the total: Add the purchase price to fees and any immediate work you can identify. Accessories should count as value only if they are in good condition and compatible with that year.

Check tire condition as well as the size printed on the sidewall. The 2025 specification lists a 130/70R18 front and a 240/40R18 rear; confirm fitment and rating for an older model year independently. Suzuki’s 2025 brochure lists an engine guard, a rear rack compatible with a passenger backrest, a gel seat, and saddlebags as genuine accessory options. Confirm that any accessory on a listing is the right fit, present, and in usable condition; its listing in the brochure does not establish current availability.
Fit and low-speed handling
Arrange an in-person test ride and assess parking-lot-speed turns, moving the bike while stopped, and how comfortably you can reach the ground at a stop. The recommendation follows from the published seat height and curb weight; it is especially relevant if you are a new or returning rider. Do not decide on fit from seat height alone.

Does the M109R suit your riding and ownership needs?
The M109R is most persuasive for a rider who specifically wants the feel and presence of a large muscle cruiser, rather than a lighter, more agile motorcycle or one configured for carrying luggage from the start. Its shaft drive and low seat are practical traits, but the bike’s published mass remains an important part of the ownership decision.
For touring or passenger use, Suzuki’s 2025 brochure lists saddlebags and a rear rack compatible with a passenger backrest, as well as a gel seat and engine guard. Treat those as accessory options, not standard equipment, and check year compatibility and availability before assigning them value.
Suzuki describes the shaft drive this way in its 2025 brochure: “The low-maintenance shaft drive is clean-running with minimal torque reaction as it efficiently transmits power to the massive, low-profile 240/40 x 18 rear tire, the widest ever used on a Suzuki motorcycle.” That is Suzuki’s product description, not an independent test finding.
Bottom line: bargain for the right buyer, not at any price
A well-kept M109R bought at a locally reasonable total cost can be an appealing way into a distinctive, high-displacement cruiser. The value case depends on the exact motorcycle: compare year-specific guide references with local listings, verify its history and condition, budget for near-term needs, and make sure its weight feels manageable in person.
