The hybrid 911 is the 992.2-generation Carrera GTS, introduced for the 2025 model year with Porsche’s T-Hybrid system. It is a performance hybrid—not a plug-in hybrid: electric motors help the turbocharger and drivetrain, while the 3.6-litre flat-six remains central to propulsion. U.S. model-year 2025 MSRPs announced in May 2024 started at $164,900 for the Carrera GTS Coupé, before taxes, fees and options.
Which Porsche 911 is hybrid?
Porsche announced the 992.2 Carrera GTS on 28 May 2024 as the first production and street-legal 911 with its lightweight, performance-focused T-Hybrid system. The launch lineup covered five U.S. body and drivetrain configurations for model year 2025:
| 2025 U.S. model | Drivetrain/body style | MSRP at announcement |
|---|---|---|
| Carrera GTS | Rear-wheel drive, Coupé | $164,900 |
| Carrera GTS Cabriolet | Rear-wheel drive, Cabriolet | $178,200 |
| Carrera 4 GTS | All-wheel drive, Coupé | $172,700 |
| Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet | All-wheel drive, Cabriolet | $186,000 |
| Targa 4 GTS | All-wheel drive, Targa | $186,000 |
These are U.S. model-year 2025 MSRPs in Porsche’s May 2024 announcement, not a current quote or a guarantee of dealer pricing. They exclude tax, title, registration, dealer charges, options and Porsche’s $1,995 delivery, processing and handling fee. Porsche expected U.S. GTS deliveries to begin at the end of 2024. Its technology explainer, marked correct as of October 2025, also lists T-Hybrid in the 911 Turbo S and Turbo S Cabriolet; the GTS was the first production 911 to receive it.
How the 911 T-Hybrid works
Electrically assisted turbocharger
The 3.6-litre six-cylinder boxer engine uses an electrically assisted exhaust turbocharger. An electric motor in the turbo can help it build boost quickly, improving response and reducing the delay associated with waiting for exhaust flow to spin a conventional turbo. Porsche’s system is designed to deliver performance assistance, not extended electric-only driving.

Motor in the transmission
A second electric motor is integrated into the transmission. It contributes torque during acceleration, working alongside the combustion engine to provide the system’s combined output. The car therefore uses electric power to assist both turbo response and propulsion.
High-voltage system and packaging
The boxer engine is supported by a 400-volt high-voltage system. Porsche says an electric compressor for the air conditioning eliminates the belt drive and frees packaging space above the engine. Together, these choices add hybrid capability without the large battery and electric-driving emphasis associated with a plug-in hybrid.

Is the hybrid 911 a plug-in hybrid?
No. Porsche describes the GTS T-Hybrid as a lightweight, performance-focused hybrid. Its launch material does not describe a plug-in charging connection, a large plug-in battery or an electric-only range. It is best understood as an electrified performance 911: the electric motors help the engine and transmission, rather than making the car suitable for routine electric-only trips.
What performance does the T-Hybrid GTS deliver?
Porsche quotes total system output of 541 PS and 610 Nm. For the Coupé, its 2024 global launch figures are 0–100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 312 km/h. Porsche’s U.S. release gives the corresponding U.S.-market figures as 0–60 mph in 2.9 seconds and 194 mph. These figures use different measurement units and should be read in their stated markets rather than treated as separate tests.

Porsche says the new system increases weight by 50 kg over the predecessor. That modest increase is part of the engineering proposition: add electric assistance for response and acceleration while keeping the car focused on performance rather than carrying a battery sized for long electric journeys.

For the U.S. 2025 lineup announced in May 2024, the Carrera GTS Coupé had an MSRP of $164,900, rising to $186,000 for the Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet and Targa 4 GTS. The full model-by-model figures and exclusions are listed above. They are historical model-year MSRPs, not a claim about 2026 pricing or present availability; options and dealer charges can change the amount paid.
How to choose between the hybrid GTS and other 911s
- Choose the GTS T-Hybrid for performance assistance: its electric motors support turbo response and acceleration, with Porsche quoting 541 PS and 610 Nm.
- Consider a non-hybrid Carrera if you do not need the GTS performance focus: Porsche’s launch material establishes the GTS hybrid’s output and performance, but does not provide a directly comparable non-hybrid Carrera price or specification here.
- Choose by body style and driven wheels: the 2025 GTS range included Coupé and Cabriolet in rear- or all-wheel drive, plus the all-wheel-drive Targa 4 GTS.
- Do not choose it for electric-only motoring: Porsche does not state an electric-only range for this system, and the launch description presents it as a performance hybrid.
