What J.D. Power’s dependability study can—and cannot—tell you
J.D. Power’s 2025 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study surveyed 34,175 original owners of 2022 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership. Fieldwork took place from August through November 2024. The study measured problems across 184 areas in nine categories and reported an industry average of 202 problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). These are study-wide figures, not Land Rover-specific results.
Across the study, vehicles newly launched for the 2022 model year averaged 241 PP100, compared with 196 PP100 for carryover models. That comparison describes the study’s industry-wide groups; it does not show that a particular Land Rover had either score. The study is useful for understanding what a three-year dependability measure looks like, but it cannot supply a 2025 Land Rover model winner.

Power’s director of auto benchmarking, Jason Norton, said: “Supply chain issues, record-high vehicle prices, and personnel disruption in the wake of the pandemic were problematic.” The statement describes the broader conditions discussed with the study, not a finding about one Land Rover model.

Are Land Rovers reliable?
The available evidence here is too limited and uneven to give a single brand-wide yes-or-no answer for 2025. J.D. Power provides a qualified score for the Range Rover; Consumer Reports says Land Rover did not meet the minimum data threshold for its 2026 brand ranking.
